TWENTY-SIX.

The sun began to rise as Mackenzie heard footsteps outside of Johnny's door.

"John!" A woman called out.

Mackenzie panicked and rolled off the bed, collapsing on top of Johnny's sleeping figure. He suddenly awoken by the physical contact, groaning as his eyes fluttered open.

"Johnny, johnny!" She whisper-yelled, shaking him a bit.

He lifted himself on his elbows, cocking his head to the side, one eye squinting because of the bright sun from the window. "What are you doing on top of me?" His groggy voice questioned.

He didn't expect to be awoken like this.

"John! I'm going to work!"

His eyes widen as he instantly threw Mackenzie to the side. In result, her head hit against the metal edge of the bed.

"Ouch!" She hissed, rubbing the back of her head.

The locked door jiggled as his mother attempted to open the door. "What was that?"

Johnny glared at Mackenzie before answering back, "Nothing, Mom! Have a good day at work!"

When he heard her footsteps fade away, he sighed in relief. He kneeled in front of Mackenzie, grabbing her head in his hands. "Are you okay?"

Her teeth tugged at her bottom lip before slowly nodding. Her cheeks were hella red lmao.

Johnny was still sleepy and his voice was raspy. He sighed again, dropping her head on the floor. He knew everything about this was troublesome.

Mackenzie was admiring how their bodies touched a few moments ago. Everything about it made her insides explode. She doubt he felt the same spark, though. He quickly snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Hello? I said we should skip school today."

"Oh, sounds like a plan."

He placed his hands on his hips and threw his head back, pondering on a way to sneak her downstairs so he can feed her. "Are you hungry?" He glanced at her. Her hair was messy but he thought she looked really good in his shirt.

"Yeah, what do you have to offer?"

A mischievous smirk creeped on his face. He has always wanted to say this. "This dick."

She let out a squeal, "Really?"

He rubbed his eyes and stretched, walking towards his door. "Nah, I was just kidding. Calm down."

She didn't give him a reaction, her thoughts were empty from the lack of sleep she had.

Johnny slightly cracked the door open and peeked down the hallway. "Pup, come here." He gestured with his hand. "We're going to quietly sneak downstairs. Once I grab your food of choice, we'll sneak back to my room, okay?"

She nodded and smiled. Mackenzie was so happy at this moment. She was happy that he was inches away from her and how nice he was being lately.

He grabbed her hand and guided her out of the room. She was screaming internally at the thought that they were holding hands.

They successfully reached the kitchen without awakening Johnny's sister or his dad.

"Alright, what do you want to eat?"

She shrugged.

"Hm... yogurt?"
"Eggs?"
"Toast?"
"Yogurt??"

"Yogurt is fine, Johnny." She nodded.

He quickly grabbed a handful of yogurt from the fridge and passed them to her. "Hurry, back to the room!" He pushed her forwards, grabbing a couple of water bottles.

When they made it back to the room, he let out a deep breath he must've been holding. "You're giving me anxiety, I swear." He locked the door behind him.

"I'm sorry, should I leave?"

He shook his head, "If you leave, then you won't be able to text me." He slouched in his desk chair.

Mackenzie's heart didn't fail to flutter. "It's sorta early," he said. "What do you wanna do all day?"

She pressed her lips together. She had way too many things in mind, considering Johnny was right in front of her. "I really want to f-"

forget my pain.

Mackenzie was interrupted by the loud banging on his door. "Brother!" A female voice yelled.

Johnny stood from his desk chair. "What!" He yelled back.

"Open the door or I'll tell dad that there's a girl in your room!"
