Fourteen - Energizer

I felt like I had no energy left when I went home later that evening. My day started pretty early since we had an early morning faculty meeting. Then, I had four straight classes, one of which was with my rowdy class - the 2-D boys. On top of that, I had to supervise the English club activities in the afternoon. When everything was done, I was left emotionally and physically drained. It is indeed difficult to work in an all-boys high school.

As soon as I got into the train that will take me to my place in Ibaraki, I dozed off. Only to be awakened every time the train stops. I was like that for several minutes until I felt somebody groping my behind. Automatically, I woke up and looked behind me. There he was, an old man with no front teeth, grinning at me like a maniac.

"Nani o shiteiru no?" (What are you doing?) I asked him in an angry voice.

He just grinned and he showed me his tongue suggesting some licking motion. I felt like throwing up. It also made me mad as hell. But I kept my cool. I just moved away. But the old bastard followed me to where I went. When he was about to touch my butt again, somebody grabbed his hand and twisted it. He shouted "Itai, itai, itai." (Ouch, ouch, ouch), and he yelled profanities to the guy. But then, my hero continued on twisting his hand until he begged to be released. As soon as he was free, the old man murmured something angrily like he was just having fun. What is it to the guy, anyway? The guy went nearer to the old man again but then, the poor old guy hurriedly moved farther away. All along I was just staring at my hero's back. And I felt like, I knew him...Or, my heart knew him because the moment I laid my eyes on his back, it started to thump like a horse's hoofs on a dirt road...

His turning towards me felt like a slow motion. Just like in the movies. When finally, he was standing in front of me, I gasped. Literally.

"Daijoubu desu ka?" (Are you okay?)" He asked me. He seemed concern.

I nodded. I was speechless. I didn't expect to see him there. I was actually daydreaming about him all day long so seeing him standing in front of me felt like it was surreal.

"Next time, in times like this, you should be in the all-female car of the train. That way you'll be safe from perverts like that old bastard."

I nodded again. Overwhelmed. I still couldn't believe that the one who saved me from such an embarrassing situation is the guy of my dreams - Hayato Kozuki.

"Strange. You're so quiet." He said that while looking at me. I swear he could hear my heart thumping...

"I-I w-was just shocked," I answered in a soft voice. Then, I looked away. I couldn't go on staring at him without blushing.

I was so busy with my emotions that I didn't notice when the train slowed down and stopped. So I got off balance. I was about to fall when he grabbed me by the arm. I looked at him. We looked at each other's eyes again. There was some sparkle in his eyes...Did I just imagine it?

"You have beautiful eyes," he murmured. "Ki o tsukete ne." (Take care.) Then, he got off.

I was left staring at him --- his back, as he moved towards the exit, until I lost him in the crowd...
