okay everyone, this is it. the final official chapter (not including the epilogue because that will wrap up season 5 and set up season 6) and it is the longest one i've ever written. it has taken years to get here and i would like to thank you all for reading this story and sticking with me for clarissa's journey. it's been a wild ride and i'm excited to say here is the final chapter of monstrous.
have tissues prepared.

i love foreshadowing and hopefully i've tied up some loose ends as well as given some clues for the future.

Defining moments had shaped Clarissa Bane into the person that she had become.

She had once been a girl that had no idea about the supernatural world but that had changed in a moment when she had followed Scott and Stiles one day. She had once been a human girl navigating through the supernatural world but that had changed the moment that the Dread Doctors got their hands on her. Small moments had built up to form a friendship between her and Stiles Stilinski. Falling in love with Theo Raeken had occurred in the good moments that they had spent together and strengthened when they stood together in the bad moments.

Unfortunately for Clarissa Bane, a lot of those moments had been leading up to her walking through the tunnels towards a moment that would change her.

"Why do we always end up here?" Clarissa questioned in irritation as the water from the tunnels started to soak into her shoes. She had never understood the appeal of the tunnel system and she had spent more time in them in the last few months than she would have liked to.

"So, this is where you guys found Corey?" Delcan questioned in dismay, eyeing the dark features of the tunnels with fresh eyes. Clarissa had told her brother that he wasn't allowed to come with them out of fear for his safety, but he had put his foot down and told her that with everyone he cared about going into the tunnels to save his friend, he was too. Thankfully he had agreed to stay with Brett or Evelyn the whole time and agreed to carry around the baseball bat that Stiles had shoved in his hands before he went to find Malia. She wasn't exactly sure how well he could swing the bat with one arm, but hopefully they wouldn't have to find out. "It's creepy."

"It's just screams entrance to evil lair up ahead." Brett mumbled underneath his breath and Clarissa could sense that Scott and Liam were questioning why she let them come along on their mission.

"You two are honestly perfect together." Evelyn drawled in boredom, her eyes examining the markings and looking for nonexistent clues that would lead them in the right direction. "You both don't know when it's time to be quiet."

Clarissa hummed in agreement with the older witch. She knew that her brother had a habit of speaking when he wasn't supposed to because she had the same habit on occasion, but she was surprised that Brett had picked that habit up from her brother. Usually, he was calm and collected during moments like these but in the current moment he reeked of anxiety and she couldn't help but notice that he kept shooting worried glances towards Delcan when he wasn't looking.

Clarissa paused as she noticed the slight buzzing in her ear, a familiar hum that sent her senses into overdrive. Her spine stiffened as she noticed the others pause as well, the ones with supernatural hearing instantly picking up on the sound.
