( REAL LIFE! )
( FORTY EIGHT! )EDDIE KASPBRAK WAS CLUELESS. There were a lot of things the boy regretted. Obviously, as he was a human and error was inevitable. The first had to be when he was walking home from school five June's ago and stepped on a squirrel's tail by mistake. The little beast had sprung on him with force and then clawed up his arm.
He was sent to the hospital soon after and despite the doctors prot sets he did not have any diseases, his mother still insisted he be given a rabies and tetniss treatment. And that despite having no purpose since he was sick, hurt like hell.
The second was responding to a text at three in the morning from a girl he used to go to school with named Myra. He didn't really find it useful to explain the reason behind that. And the third was believing Stan Uris that at 12 on a Saturday evening the Bird Watchers club was going to have a meeting at the quarry. It was already suspicious even of itself due to the fact the club had a group chat and the meeting warning should have been posted there.
But it was late at night when the message was sent so sparingly, Eddie had believed it and shut off his phone. And then he drifted into a night of dreamless sleep.
It was 8am in the morning in the morning when Eddie woke up Saturday. He had changed into a bright pink polo and some brown shorts that he especially liked due to his perky mood. He could explain it, he just felt energetic. Like he could complete a million cartwheels and not even break a sweat. The walk to the quarry was 20 minutes long, but as soon as Eddie started the journey, he didn't even care.
He did care, however, when the sun started to violently beat down on him and his steps became more forced. It was like a task to lift each foot up and down again, and Eddie started to wish he could just turn back. The starchy material of his polo confided the sweat of his clothes so terribly he dreaded having to sit in it for hours when he met the club. His energetic mood, wherever it had disappeared too, was gone without so much as of a trace.
When he could finally see the outline of the sun glimmering on water, he smiled from ear to ear. He was tired, and ben though the walk was only around a mile he felt as if he could pass out already. He supposed it was because of the heat and the weight of his fannypack, which was extra heavy today because he had brought his bird book and binoculars.
The brunette boy swiftly skipped down to the lake, a bounce in his step. He looked around the lake expecting to see at least one member awaiting him. Nothing. Not even a glimpse of life expect the rustling of some leaves. Eddie searched the landscape again, before his eyes settled on some wayward figure in the distance, throwing rocks at the water. Eddie smiled and walked up to the blurry person, immediately recognizing them.
"Richie... hey." Eddie panted out, surprisingly once again exhausted from the running he had admitted. The quarry was much more hot then it appeared to be. The boy next to him grinned slightly, showing off a row of crooked teeth tat made Eddie cringe discreetly.
"Eds, what's up?" Richie said, throwing another rock into the water. They weren't even skipping, which made the smaller boy feel a little dissatisfied. What was the point of just throwing rocks into a lake meaninglessly? It was a Richie Tozier thing to do, that's for sure.
"Um, the bird watchers club is having a meeting here." The boy muttered out, this time not due to exhaustion but rather a sudden heatwave if nervousness that washed over him. He checked his watch, finding an excuse to not look at the smirking figure in front of him. It was 11:54. "Or is going to, I guess. I'm early."
"Oh, cool." Richie stated plainly, stuffing one hand into his pocket and looking at the water. Eddie shuffled awkwardly in place.
"Where you here?"
