A Friend In Need

-Third's Pov-

Sei and Rin were together in their dorms while staying undercover away from the exwires.

Sei had look over at his friend with an questioning stare.

Rin: Sei...What is it...?

Sei: H-How long...?

Rin: How long what...?

Rin was confused. What was he taking about...?

Sei: How long have you felt this way...Ya know ever since finding out that you're the son of Satan and all.

Rin stops in an halt and looks at Sei feeling a bit wary of talking about this whole thing again.

He really hoped Sei or Gosu wouldn't talk about this 'son of Satan' crap again but here it is. It came back to bite Rin in the ass.

Karma can be such a bitch...

Rin wanted to look away from Sei but instead. He decided to gather a little bit a courage and gazes back at his friend.

Rin: Ever since I was a child...

Sei:...I was hoping you say that...

Rin: Eh?

Sei: I talked too Sir Pheles...Ya know. The Principal.

Now Rin looked like he wanted to kill someone.

Rin: (That damn clown...)

Sei: H-He told me everything...The day you were born...The Blue Night...I-I can't believe such a thing happened. It's no wonder a lot of people hate you.

Rin:...Yeah...

Sei: B-But they shouldn't blame you for Satan's crimes is what I meant! I mean...Everyone makes mistakes.

Rin: If only everyone else know that I do too...Because all I ever do is mess things up.

Sei felt bad for Rin. He wanted to slap himself for bringing up this whole thing again. But if he wanted to help Rin. He needed all the help he could get.

But just finding out about Rin's tragic past was the worst.

Rin: Hey...

Sei: Yeah...

Rin: You remember my brother Yukio right...?

Sei: The exorcist with glasses. Yeah why...?

Rin: Do you want to know why he hates me...?

Sei:....Yes...

Sei wanted to take back those words. But thanks to his curosity, he wanted to know.

Rin: Y-Ya know...He wasn't always cruel to me. He would always look up to me. Ask for advice when we were younger and he got bullied a lot back then. But I wouldn't let that happen. So I made sure those bullies stopped hurting him.

Sei:....

Rin: But...He kept so many secrets from me. He even knew of our heritage....

Rin then felt tears come out of his eyes again.

Sei wipes the tears and rubbed Rin's back with his hand as he continues his story.

Rin: I pretend to be a idiot because everyone believes that Yukio is the smarter twin and because I ditched school at a young age. I get into many fights but Yukio and the old man call me stupid or reckless for doing that. It's not my fault. The reason why I still get into fights with those assholes was to protect him. They just don't understand...Then when I found out I was Satan's son. I was scared. Terrified. I felt betrayed that everyone I knew and grew up with kept this a secret from me...

Sei: M-Maybe...They did it to protect you...

Rin: I know...But I was angry. I lashed out on my adoptive father for not telling me...That day he slapped me before he was possessed by Satan. I-I tried to save him...B-But...

Sei holds Rin while he sobs.

Rin: I was too late...That day I became a demon as well. Yukio found out and he was mad...He blame me for Dad's death and tried to shoot me...Then on somebdays when demons started following me. He tells me not to use my flames but I couldn't control them. Then he lashes out on me. He threatens to shoot me as well...The others who I thought were my friends betrayed me as well...Yukio was not even that helpful...He started to ignore me.

Sei:....Rin.

Rin: Then...The fight with the impure King. I thought he would be proud of me for saving the day...But instead...He punched me...

Sei stared in shock before feeling some bit of anger swelling inside him.

What kind of brother would do such a thing after all Rin had done for him?

Wherever this Yukio was...Sei wanted to give him a piece of his mind.

He maybe a peace-loving soul. But when someone messes with his friends. That's when he gets mad...

Rin: And it seems like...No matter what I do...It hardly matters to him. He continues to strike me down when I tried to help and now he's keeping more secrets from me...It hurts... It really hurts...I-I just want to be his big brother again...

Sei: Was that why...You tried to commit suicide a few days ago...

Rin: Yes...because right now...I don't even think we're family anymore...

The silence between them was so quiet and gloomy, Sei couldn't take the suspension any longer.

Sei: Rin-kun. Look at me.

Rin looks at him until Sei pulls him into a hug.

Sei: I'm here for you. No matter what...You don't have to go back to your brother. If he can't appreciate all the things you try to do for him then he can go doesn't deserve you. You are better than him. You can stay here if you like for as long as you can. Remember. I'm your friend and I'm always here for you.

Rin made a small grin as he nods.

Rin: Thanks Sei.
