Victoria's POV

Eyes of shiny tin reflect the small amount of light coming from the monitor screens. His eyes, they are only for Meela. He's assessing her, taking everything in. They stop at her belly, travel back up to her eyes...questioning?

Letting go of my hand, she goes to him, taking his hand in hers, it's how it should be.

"Grey." A strangled cry perforates the hum of the room.

Tears fall without restraint onto his face, chest, shoulders. Lips brush against his neck, mouth, nose pressed against his mark. He presses his nose against her neck. I can see the fluttering of his eyes...bliss hitting his senses....A shiver of pleasure quivers his fine muscles...the heart monitor flashing, an alarm going off with its rapid rate....his rate for me was only a picked up pace, this reaction is of a scared heart, fluttering with terror of what's about to be said.

I watch the screen go black, someone must have shut it off from somewhere outside of here.

Meela lays on the bed with him, curling herself around his broken body. So small next to this big male, hand on his heart, nose pressed firmly into his skin...If it's hurting him he doesn't show it. Instead, he just closes his eyes. "Are you alright?" Vocal cords strain with inactivity, his first words spoken out in months. His first concern is her, I smile at his devotion.

"Grey." I can't make anything else out, her mouth pressed against his neck, mumbling, crying, sobbing. His hand comes awkwardly up, touching her back, rubbing it up and down.

"Shh, Meela, I'm here now." His hand stops rubbing her back, only to pull her against him, brows furrowed with a look of pain. A hissed out breath is the only sign of his discomfort that he doesn't care all he cares is to soothe his mate's anguish.

A male of worth.

"Tell me." I watch her head shake no, hysteria becoming drastic and unforgettable. Her grief has my wolf trying to ascending, to howl out a mournful song into the grey land of loss.

"He....died. I'm so sorry Grey, he just wouldn't breathe, he wouldn't take a breath. I held him to me, against my chest so he wouldn't be alone. I held him so he wouldn't be alone." A burst of fresh wails come from deep inside her, sputtering little intakes of breath...this is the sound of heartbreak.

His face turns away from her. Misery rising, his pain wears no disguise. How can a face display so much in mere seconds...."I have a way of ruining anything good between us Meela."

He blames himself for the loss of their pup, what could have been, what should have been...now gone, buried deep in the ground, that's bursting with life of the coming season.

I'm just a shadow, standing back, away from them...it's awkward for me....invading something so personal, so private. I should not be here bearing witness to something that doesn't need my ears or eyes.

Her mind is tittering on insanity, heavy sobs convulsing the lightness of a body. I watch as his hand slips off of her, support gone. He's lost in his own tide of grief...as if it's pulling him under...he can't take a breath in.

A disconnect comes over him, body pulling away from her as she pulls herself more into him.

"Grey, this is not your fault, it just happened." A desperate plea in my voice. Eyes void of color meet mine as if black bottomless pits suck my soul in.

His eyes take in my appearance, resting on my now flattened stomach, barren forever of producing a Future again.

Slowly going over to them, I pick up Grey's hand and put it on Meela's back. I put pressure on it so we are both holding her. I have my fingers against her cheek. Eyes closed she leans into them.
