Scotty's Pov
I parked behind an old van, seeing that's the only open spot. The bank is across the street, so that's a plus. The stupid dry cleaners is a block away. Oh well, I need some exercise.
I'll go to the dry cleaners first, than go to the library, then lastly go to the bank.
As I was about to exit my vehicle a pickup truck just missed my door. If I opened the door seconds earlier, I was going to be good as dead.
I waited until the coast is clear until I got out. I walked up to the center park, seeing tons of kids playing while their parents went shopping.
While I was gazing around a football slammed into my head. I almost fell to the ground but a teen grabbed my arm, steddying me.
"I'm so sorry!" The teen said.
"That's okay, I've had worse." I said pulling away from the teen.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Thank you."
The teen let go of my arm and walked away. Making sure I walk away safely. I just shake my head and walked to the dry cleaners.
I crossed the street and walked the block to the dry cleaners.
I entered the store Instantly feeling the coolness of the air conditioner. It felt nice to get out of the heat.
"Morning sir!" A young lady says at the cash register.
"Ah hello! I'm here to pick up about four suits." I said.
"Oh your the person with all those suits. If I may ask, why do you have so many suits?"
"My best friends wedding is coming up, he wants me to pick them up. Only because I live closer."
"Ah, well here is your suits. They are all in plastic bags, just so nothing gets on them."
"Okay, thank you. How much?"
"The person that brought them in must of paid the fee. You are free to go."
I grabbed the suits and went back into the heat. I think that I might have to put them in the car, pretty heavy.
I crossed the street and made my way back to my car. I popped the hood and carefully put them in the car.
But, as we all know it, it didn't work out. A Prius sped past and ran through a mud puddle. As the mud was coming at me I used one of the suits to shield me. The mud hit the suit and got inside my trunk. Thankfully the suits we're covered with the plastic. That only thing I'm triggered about is that my trunk is filthy.
I closed my trunk and just stood at the back of my car. What's going on today? It's like the whole world is out to get me.
Almost receiving a hit and run from someone to a football to the head.
I put my keys back in my pocket and walked to a cross walk.
For some reason I didn't feel safe. I've had a bad day, what exactly still go wrong?
My gaze Rose from Windows to rooftops, which might provide a roost for a sniper. I tried to continue forward, but I couldn't move. I felt that if I step in the wrong direction it would take me into the path of a bullet. Of course as long as I stood motionless, I'd make a perfect target.
So intense was my concentration that I heard but didn't respond to the question until he repeated it: "I said- are you all right?"
I lowered my attention from the search of a sniper to the young man standing on the side walk in front of me. Dark haired, green eyes, he was handsome to be a movie star.
He glanced at the build rooftops that had concerned me, then fixed his remarkable gaze at me. "are you okay?"
My tounge felt thick. "I thought I um saw something over there."
"You mean something in the sky?"
I didn't want to tell him I was mesmerized by a possibility of a sniper. So I just said "Yes, uh, something in the sky......... Something..........odd."
"UFO you mean?" He asked, revealing a lopsided smile that reminded me of Tom Cruise.
He might of been a well known actor, a rising star. Even if he was famous, I wouldn't know.
The only film I've seen this year was forest Gump. Now I suppose that I must appear to have the IQ of the title character.
Heat blossomed in my face, and I said with some embarasment, "maybe a UFO thing. Probably not. I don't know. It's gone now."
"Are you alright?" He repeated.
"Yeah, sure, I'm fine, just the sky thing, gone now," I said, embarrassed to hear myself babbling.
I wished him a good day, walked away, tripped on a fault in the sidewalk and almost fell.
When I regained my balance, I didn't look back. I knew he would be watching me, his face alight with that million dollar smile.
Grimly determined to get a grip on myself, I went directly to the bank.
It was almost closing now, so I was cheering for changing my schedule up. I handed my check over to the banker to deposit it. Also getting some money for myself, then departing without any incidents.
I then made it to my final stop, the local library. I entered the library, seeing no one sat at the reading tables. The only person in sight was at the main desk, leaning casually against the high counter, in a hushed conversation with Craig Thompson, the main librarian.
As I neared the desk, I recognized the patron. His green eyes brightened at the sight if me, and his big smile was friendly, not mocking, though he said to Craig, "I think this gentleman will be wanting a book on flying saucers."
If I recognized the warning in Craig's face, I could not have done anything to save myself or him. The handsome fellow with porcelain white teeth had already decided on a course of action the moment I entered.
First, he shot Craig in the head.
I'm so sorry I didn't get you in the sorry yet. I promise you will be in the next chapter.
