Christmas Time ~ Two Years Later
It turns out that being married to a superstar isn't nearly as stressful as one would think, although I happen to think that my particular superstar is unique in his devotion to his family. I don't know how he does it, but he's risen to the challenge of being a father of five and he's managed to remain a hot, sexy and successful singer and business man.
Our baby, Benjamin Gerard Styles, just turned two in September. He and his big brother Danny, who turned five around the same time, are practically joined at the hip. They're my two little mischief makers, for sure. I often catch glimpses of Harry in them, and I think that maybe they're like he was when he was growing up.
Aurora is 12, Grace is 11, and Rachael is 8, almost 9. I literally cannot believe how fast the time has flown by. I'm thankful every day that I get to be an at-home Mom so that I can participate fully in their fleeting childhood.
Our family of seven is quite content. And crazy busy, but that just comes with the territory.
Tonight is our family Christmas celebration, and everyone will be arriving at our house shortly: my parents, my sister Maggie, her husband and her two kids, Ava and Bella; Charlie and Courtney and their little guy, Duncan Charles; and Ryan and Jessica. They haven't been able to conceive yet, but they're in the process of adopting a baby from China, so they're nesting like crazy, waiting for the baby's arrival.
We invited the other members of Harry's business, too, because they're like family. After Harry's three-year contract with Urbane ended, he decided to do something new. He had gained plenty of popularity to be able to open a record company based on his reputation. And so, late in the summer of this year, Harry christened his new record company, which he simply named Lise Records.
Niall and Hope are coming for sure. We had become very close friends with them, and they aren't traveling for the holidays since Hope is due with their second baby any time. Their sweet little Delilah is about 18 months old, and she arrived just after their first anniversary, and now they were expecting a little brother for Delilah.
The rest of Harry's team should be coming as well. Liam Payne had left Urbane Records to work with Harry on his new company. He's been a huge blessing to us because he offered a lot of insight into what makes a recording company work. Harry hired Louis Tomlinson as well, to work directly with the musicians as a producer. Harry hired Zayn Malik as the main builder for the new company headquarters. My amazing husband buried any ill feelings toward Zayn and it turned out that they got along fantastically. Niall completes Harry's team as head of security.
It's been fun for Harry to have a team of boys with whom he gets on well. And the best part is that they all have some musical talent or ambition, so they jam together a lot, which is fun for Harry. He would like to write music again and make a few more albums, but he is pretty much consumed with getting his recording label off the ground first.
Life has changed quite a bit for us in the past two years. I'm pretty sure we had weathered the most difficult year when Harry first got signed to Urbane Records. It turns out that being a celebrity family is relatively easy when you're not being targeted by a psychotic stalker.
When I look around at my family and friends tonight, I know I'll be overwhelmed, as I often am, with gratitude, appreciation, and contentment. I met Harry eight years ago, and my life has been full and exciting and rich and fun ever since. Because of him, I have new friends and family nearby, a family of truly amazing kids, and a man whom I know will never leave my side.
