"Devin," His father stopped him as he was coming down the stairs, "Where are you going?"

"Chris' house. I hope that's okay. I was going to ask you this morning but you had already left for work." He tucked a strand of hair behind his ear, pushing it in place with a bobby pin. Devin checked himself over in the mirror in the hallway. His father walked out from the kitchen with crossed arms. The teen diva sighed, "Dad, you can call Mr. Cerulli if you want. I swear, we're just going to watch movies. Some of the other guys are going to be there too."

"Any girls?" He asked.

"Uh, probably Chris' girlfriend and Josh's. That's it." Devin swept his books off the kitchen table, filing through them to make sure he had what he needed.

"Ashley's not going?"

He looked up at his father, annoyed, "I told you her and I aren't a thing. We don't see each other like that. And no, she's not coming because she doesn't get along with Chris' girlfriend, apparently. That's what Ricky told me anyways."

"Ashley's a nice girl. I don't want you to think I don't like her. I just don't want you," He sighed, "Repeating any of my mistakes."

Uncomfortable with the conversation, Devin stuffed his things into his messenger bag as fast as he could. "Is it okay if I decide to stay the night?"

"As long as it's okay with Chris' parents. I trust them."

He pulled his coat off the hook near the door. "I'll text you if I decide to sleep over. Otherwise, I'll see you later tonight. Don't wait up, please."

"I won't." He replied. Petting his hand over the cat's head, he added, "I can't help if Lexus wants to stay up waiting for you, though."

"Dad," Devin softly sighed, "I'll be fine. Goodnight."

"Goodnight. Be safe."

His words were nearly cut off by the front door closing. Devin grabbed his long board off the porch and hurried down to the sidewalk. Nothing was really too far in this town. He popped in his headphones, turning on some Rob Zombie for his journey. It wasn't more than twelve or so minutes later that he arrived at the house they all tended to end up at on a Friday night. With the exception of the weekends everyone got busy, but the colder it got out, the less they had to do together.

Devin walked into the open garage and leaned his board against the wall, where the others had dropped theirs. Chris' house was in the middle of everyone else's. His family was also the most tolerant of having a group of teenagers occupying their living room for hours at a time.

As he walked in the house, he spotted Ricky back in the kitchen. Ryan sat next to him at the old kitchen table. It was something that looked like it was straight out of Roseanne or Family Matters. That was typically how their town was; Stuck in the 90s. It seemed everyone else had yet to arrive, being that Chris and his girlfriend were the only ones in the living room.

Ryan gave a small glance up to their friend before his eyes quickly returned to his paper. "S'up?" He greeted him, habitually chewing on his gum.

"Hey." Devin softly spoke as he sat down on the other side of Ricky, "How's things?"

The smaller sighed heavily, "Stupid. Well, things aren't, people are. All of Ronnie's calculations are wrong. Luckily the human calculator over here is helping me fix it."

Ryan reached over to Ricky's paper, pointing at an equation, "That's wrong. You flipped the signs."

"Will you just- Yeah, take it." He spoke as he watched Ryan pull over his binder.
