Maya, Shawn, and Katy walked inside Topanga's. As, they walked inside Katy saw someone familiar that she never thought she'll see again. Katy, turned and saw that Maya hasn't seen that person. When Maya looked up. She, saw Kermit sitting in the same seat he sat last time when he visited.
Shawn, noticed Maya and Katy staring at something and saw that they were staring at man who was seating at a table. Shawn was confused why they were staring at him when Katy said a name. That, Maya and Shawn are very familiar with.
"KERMIT!" Katy yelled which caught everyone attention. But, specifically Shawn and Maya's. Kermit looked up and got up from his seat and started walking towards them. The consumers watched but one glare from Maya and Shawn. Made all the consumers turn around.
Maya, I heard...." Kermit was cut off when Shawn punched him the face which made Kermit stumble back. Shawn, was about to punch Kermit again.
"DAD! Don't do this! He's not worth it. Mom, can you please stay with dad. I'm going to talk to Kermit outside." Maya said to both her parents. Shawn and Katy both looked at each other and nodded. As the two started heading outside
"Hey, Kermit the frog! If you hurt Maya. Your gonna regret..." Shawn was pulled away as Katy dragged him to the couch.
Maya and Kermit sat in the same table that they sat. When, Maya was in eighth grade when they were assigned the forgiveness project.
"What, are you doing here, Kermit? After, three years you finally decide to come back and visit again?" Maya asked suspiciously.
"I heard about what happened to you, Maya. That, you got shot protecting your best friend Riley. Once, I heard what happened I drove here as fast as I could. But, I knew once I showed up at the hospital and if Katy saw me. She, wouldn't allow me to see you. So, when visiting hours where over I sneaked inside and visited you. I prayed that you'll wake up. But, most importantly I promised god that if you woke up I'll be apart of your life. I'll understand if you don't believe me, Maya. But, I honestly want to be part of your life. Please give me one more shot." Kermit pleaded.
"All, I remember is your back walking towards the door leaving us in your past. Piece by piece he filled the holes. That you burned in me at six years old. He doesn't walk away. He cares about me. Piece by piece he restored my faith. That he was stayer and not a leaver." Maya said with tears in her eyes but wiped them away quickly.
"Kermit, I believe that you went to visit me in the hospital. I know you wouldn't lie about that. But, I can't forgive you yet. No matter how hard I'm trying right now. I just can't do it!" Maya replied.
Kermit looked deeply upset. But, apart of him knew that this was going to happen. In fact, he knows he doesn't deserve Maya's forgiveness. But, he really wants to be apart of Maya's life.
"I understand. I just hope one day you can forgive me. Can, you at least tell me how you been? Has, anything interesting happen?" Kermit asked.
Maya doesn't know if she should tell Kermit. About, her engagement with Riley. Because, the first time the two met. Kermit, didn't know how special her friendship was with Riley and Riley was offended. But, Maya decided to tell Kermit about her engagement with Riley.
"Yeah, a lot has happened last year and this year. But, everything is now good. Actually, I'm engaged now. I purposed to Riley today. Mom and dad are accepting of the engagement. I think Mr. Matthews now accepts our engagement as well. But, the only one who isn't is Mrs. Matthews. I just hope everything works out in the end." Maya says nervously.
Kermit, couldn't believe what he was hearing. That, Maya, his daughter. Was, engaged to her best friend.
"Well, I don't support this engagement! Maya, your still a teenager and you purposed to your friend! What are you even thinking!" Kermit said angrily. Maya, stood up quickly which resulted in her knocking her chair down. As well, as Kermit who knocked his chair down. The two stared at each other.
"You can't tell me what to do! Only, my mom and dad can, and last time I checked your not my father!" Maya replied angrily.
Shawn and Katy existed out of Topanga's and saw Maya and Kermit staring at each other angrily. Shawn, stepped in front of Maya, protecting her.
"What's going on here!" Shawn asked as he stared at Kermit.
"I told him about my engagement with Riley, and he said he doesn't support it! He's basically forbidding me from marrying Riley!" Maya replied.
"Listen, Kermit the frog. Your, not Maya's dad anymore! I am, okay, not you. I'm married to Katy and I'm Maya step father. Hell, I'm more of a father than you ever where. Katy and I support Maya's engagement and you can't do anything about it." Shawn said smirking at Kermit.
"Actually, I can do something about it. It's true your Maya's step father now that your married to Katy. But, Maya needs Katy and I permission to get married. Since, I'm still legally classified as Maya father. Since, you haven't adopted her. Which, means I can veto against this engagement." Kermit said proudly.
Maya, Shawn, and Katy were shocked. By, what Kermit just told them. For, they didn't know this.
"How do we know your telling the truth. For, you could be lying to us. Just, to stop this engagement?" Katy asked.
"If, you don't believe me. Then, ask Mrs. Matthews. Isn't, she a lawyer from what I remembered. I'm sure you'll take her word instead of mine." Kermit said arrogantly.
Before, Maya could respond a voice was heard behind Maya.
"Maya, I need to talk..." Riley stopped when she noticed Kermit which was beyond shocking. Since, the last time she officially met Kermit was in eighth grade because of the forgiveness project. Before, Riley could say anything. Kermit, spoke first.
"Nice, to see you again Riley. More, specifically my daughter in law. From, what Maya just told me since the two of you are officially engaged.
Riley, was shocked hearing this from Kermit. But, was mostly shocked that Maya told Kermit about their engagement.
"Listen, I don't support your engagement with Maya. It's not because I'm against LGBT community. But, that the both of you are in high school, and you decided you want to get married! The two of you can't get married without the permission of both Maya's parents. And, since Shawn hasn't adopted Maya. I'm still classified as Maya father and I disagree with this engagement." Kermit said as he looked at both girls.
"Listen, I know that where young and just in high school. That's why your against it. Because, you think the marriage won't work and we're being irresponsible. But, I believe that Maya and I can make it work. And do you wanna know why? We complete each other, we bring the best out of each other, we are each other safe places, she believes in me no matter what the issue is. More importantly she's my soulmate the person I want to spend the rest of my life with." Riley said as held Maya hand.
Kermit, looked at both Maya and Riley and saw the love they had for each other. Even, though he hasn't been in Maya's life and doesn't know Riley well. He can tell that everything Riley just told him. Is, what Riley feels for Maya and the one thing he wants is Maya to be happy and if getting married with Riley is what's going to make Maya happy and smile. Then why should he get in the way.
"I'm sorry. Even, though I haven't been in Maya's life and I don't know you Riley. I can see from the way you look at each other and what you told me. That the two of you are deeply in love. I support your engagement. I'm sorry I got in the way. I hope one day you can forgive me, Maya." Kermit said as he started walking away. Maya watched as Kermit walked away.
"Wait.! Thank you for approving of our engagement. I really appreciate it. I still don't forgive you. But, I would like if we can talk just you and me." Maya asked.
Kermit instantly nodded and smiled, "I'll really like that, Maya." Kermit replied happily as he gave Maya his phone number and walked away.
"That, was nice of you to do, Maya." Katy said. Maya nodded in acknowledgment.
"So, Riley. Did Topanga finally agree of your engagement with Maya?" Shawn asked curiously.
"Yeah. She did. She, send me here to tell the three of you to head back to the apartment. But, you guys go ahead. Maya and I will catch up soon." Riley said quickly.
Katy and Shawn looked at Riley weirdly but ignored it and started heading towards the Matthews apartment.
"I'm so happy that your..." Maya was cut off by Riley.
"Let's run away and get married!" Riley said happily.
"WHAT! Riley, why do you wanna run away and get married? Your mom gave us her blessing." Maya asked.
"She didn't give us her blessing! She never will until we basically graduate college! Maya, we love each other so what's the point of waiting!" Riley said. Maya stared at Riley and nodded.
"Lets get married! You and me, forever!" Maya said excitedly as the two started heading out to get married.
Maya and Riley have decided to run away and get married.
