I was with Hagrid as he was burying the giant spider, Aragog. I had Atticus with me to keep my mind off the spider and on him and Hagrid. I was talking to Atticus when I heard Slughorn and Harry.

Hagrid- Harry. Horace.

Slug- Merlin's beard.... Is that an actual Acromantula?

Harry- A dead one, I think, sir.

Slug- My god, dear fallow. How did you ever manage to kill it?

Hagrid- Kill 'im! Me oldest friend, 'e was!

Slug- I'm sorry, I... didn't realize.

HAgrid- Ah, don' worry yerself. Yer not alone. Seriously misunderstood creatures... spiders. It's the eyes, I reckon. They Unnerve some people.

Harry- Not to mention the pincers.

Atticus and I looked at Harry. I whispered to Atti.

Me- what's he on?

Atticus- some kind of poison? Do they even have poisons for that?

Me- not that I know of. He's on a liquid luck potion. I remember he got it from slughorns class.

Hagrid- I reckon that too...

Slughorn- Hagrid. I wouldn't want to be indelicate, but Acromantula venom is uncommonly rare would you allow me to extract a vial or two...purely for academic pursuits you understand.

Hagrid- well Don' suppose it's doin' 'im much good now, izzit?

Slughorn- My thoughts exactly! Alway have an ampoule or two on my person for just such occasions as this. Old Potion Master's habit, you know...

Hagrid- Wish yeh coulda seen 'im in 'is prime. Magnificent 'e was. Jus' magnificent...

Slughorn- Would you like me to say a few words?

Hagrid- yes.

Slug- he had a family i trust?

harry- Oh yeah.

Slughorn- Farewell...

Hagrid- Aragog.

Slug- Farewell, Aragog, king of arachnids. your body will decay but your spirit lingers may your human friends find solace for the loss they have sustained.

Hagrid- Tha' was... tha' was... beautiful.

We went back to Hagrid's hut and sat around the table. Atticus went back to the forest. Hagrid and slughorn were drunk and singing.

Hagrid- I had 'im from an egg, yeh know. Tiny little thing he was when he hatched. No bigger'n a Pekinese. A pekinese mind you.

Slughorn- thats so Sweet. I once had a fish. Francis. He was very dear to me. One afternoon I came downstairs and he'd vanished. Poof.

Hagrid- Tha's very odd. Isnt it?

Slughorn- Isn't it? That's life, I suppose. You go along and then... suddenly poof.

Hagrid- Poof.

Harry- Poof.

Then hagrid passed out in his chair.

Slughorn- It was a student who gave me Francis. One spring afternoon I discovered a bowl upon my desk with a few inches of clear water in it. Floating on the surface was a flower petal. As I watched it sank, but just before it reached the bottom... it transformed. Into a wee fish. It was beautiful magic, wondrous to behold. The flower petal had come from a lily. Your mother. The day I came downstairs, the day the bowl empty... was the day your mother... I know why you're here. But I can't help you. It will ruin me...

Harry- Do you know why I survived, Professor? The night I got this. Because of her. Because she sacrificed herself. Because she refused to step aside. Because her love was more powerful than Voldemort....

Slug- don't say his name.

Harry- I'm not afraid of the name, Professor. I'm going to tell you something, something others have only guessed at. It's true. I am the Chosen One. Only I can destroy him. But in order to do so, I need to know what Tom Riddle asked you all those years ago in your office. And I need to know what you told him. Be brave, Professor. Be brave like my mother. Otherwise you disgrace her. Otherwise she died for nothing. Otherwise, the bowl will remains empty forever.

Slug- please don't think badly of me when you seen it. You have no idea what he was like... even then.

Slughorn takes out a tiny vial then he raises his wand to his temple and pulls out a memory. He drops it into the vial. Then Slughorn and Harry leave. I go into forest I was going to check in with my father. He made me do this every night since Sirius died.
