"So what happened next? Did you find the girl you were looking for?" I flashed a half crooked smile and took a deep breath nodding my head in a yes. "How?"

~~~
Got her. A text message from Cabir which brought this huge smile on my face. So finally, things were working out for us. Myra Murthy it is. She's on a leave from the College and will re-join after 2 days. I jumped out of excitement. Finally! I cried out loud. I was checking out all the notifications and just then I saw Nandini's picture in my Facebook inbox. I widened my eyes as to recheck if it was really her. Like, why in the heaven would she message me? I clicked on the notfication and viewed her message which said, Didn't have your number and tbh, I'm not even interested but since my luck is too bad and I got you as my partner, I had to do this. So Yeah, 8AM sharp, be there or else you're SO gone. I smiled. I don't know why, but I smiled reading her message. What the fuck Manik? Why are you smiling reading her message? You hate her, okay?
As I walked inside the college, I could not even see the sweeper. Awesome! I murmered, rolling my eyes. "Good." I heard a familiar voice. Who else could it be? It was her. "8:02 AM. Not bad, Mr Newbie." She said, crossing her arms checking out the time in her wrist watch. "Stop calling me that. I have a name." I shot back. "As if I care?" She raised an eyebrow. I sighed, accepting the fact that this girl is impossible to deal with. "Did you read the case history?" She asked, checking out the Case File. "Yeah." I lied. "Good. So what do you think?" You're dead Manik. "Nothing much." I spoke, looking in other direction and even though I was not looking at her, I practically imagined her raising an eyebrow in suspicion at me. "What's the point of lying? If you've not read it, Say it clearly, on my face. Just by the way, Even I've not read it yet that's why I was asking you." And I kept staring her, open mouthed. Everytime I say something, this girl comes up with something much more better and powerful and the Saddest most awful truth was, Someone was finally giving me competition. "Child abuse. Ahan!" She said out loud. "How are you so sure?" I questioned, "I mean it could be an accident. How can you say it's the case of child abuse without even researching a little?" She flashed an evil smile looking at me. "Now you get why I call you a newbie?" She began. "It's clearly a case of child abuse. No second thoughts about it." She was very confident so arguing with her was definitely not a good idea! "Oh freak!" Saying this, she dragged me into the Store room. "What now?!" I cried out, not being able to understand what was this g8rl upto, now. "Professor Khanna! I didn't submit the assignment yet. Ah, Thankgod he didn't see me." She took a sigh of relief and I giggled. "What's so funny?" She Questioned. "Nothing." I said, still laughing. "Come on now let's go. It's too dark in here." She said, holding my hand and I just kept looking at her confusingly. "No!" She panicked, realizing that the door was jammed and we were stuck in that Dark room. "Get me out of here. Please. Please, I beg you. Please get me out. I can't..I can't breathe." She was sweating and fear took over her. "You think you can fool me everytime?" I laughed, raising an eyebrow and flashing a half crooked smile. "Stop acting!" I continued, looking at her. "Please do something. I'm..Claustrophobic. I Can't..Can't breathe." And then it hit me hard. Shit! She was trying very hard to breathe and I was astonished to see her like that. How can a girl have so many shades? She was a mystery. A complete mystery. "Okay okay. Relax. Look at me. Here, look at me!" I ordered, holding her hands tightly, trying my best to comfort her. "I'll do something. Just..Just Relax." I took out my cellphone, turned on the flash light and that's when I noticed some cuts and scars on her hand. They were too deep and too scary. I looked at those cuts and then in her eyes, and all I could see in them was, Fear. In that particular moment, I wanted to crawl inside her body and see what was wrong with her. It was not the correct time for me to question her about those cuts so I just took out some safety pins from my bag and tried to open the door. Thankfully, I was able to do that and without even speaking a word, She ran away outside. This girl is damn strange.
Present.
"If you hated her so much, then how did she become such an important part of your life? Why did she matter to you so much? What was so special about her?" I laughed. It was not a happy laughter though and even though I hated when someone asked about her, there was something special about her and boom! I dived into the beautiful world of my memories, my unforgettable past. "What was so special about her? Well..The dark side of her. Any girl can play innocent but to be honest, it was her demons which drove me wild. Her secrets, her darkness and her pain..that's what attracted me towards her. She was terrifying, Strange and beautiful. Something not every girl can be. She was different, she was just something else." I said, in a soft soothing voice, remembering her happiness and that beautiful smile on her lips which played whenever she saw me. "I don't  believe in love at first sight, But I do believe in seeing someone from across the room and knowing instantly, that they will matter to you. And that was the day when I realized that this girl, will turn my life upside down." I smiled a fainted smile. "She gave me a box full of darkness and it took me time to understand that that too, was a gift." And on that note, I ended the conversation, signaling him to leave.
