Ionora's POV :

Zayden speaks some more on the phone, convincing Alpha Trenton that he had managed to capture me and he would only give me as bait if it was fair trade. The moonstone originally belonged to his pack and it still belonged to DawnBlood. Alpha Trenton seemed unconvinced but he decided to meet up with Zayden before accepting the deal. I had a feeling he did not want any bad blood with the biggest pack and accepted just to appease Zayden. But news might have spread that I was Zayden's mate which might have made him suspicious. Why would anyone give their mate up?

"Can someone tell me what the hell is going on? I've never been so confused even in school." Ian huffed, looking exasperated. I giggle and decide to end his confusion.

"Do you remember when I told Viv and you about the Alphas that Zayden was conspiring with about using me to capture Jordan? Well, Alpha Trenton was one of those Alphas. The only way he would willingly give up the stone is if he gets something worthy in return, aka, me." I tell him.

"Are you crazy? Why would you do-" Vivian starts but suddenly goes still. I approach her, worry taking over me but Marrise stops me with a wave of her hand. She looked nonchalant about her daughter looking like her soul just left her body. Okay then.

"That's how she looks when the Goddess is communicating with her. Probably the only time she shuts up." Ian retorts, coming up next to me. Zayden gives him the side eye.

With a shake of her head, Vivian comes back to life, gasping. The look on her face tells me that it is bad news. Bad news seems like an everyday thing now.

"What's wrong dear?" Mom asks her, going up to the table and getting her a glass of water. Vivian takes a couple sips and then looks at Zayden and then me.

"They know. They know about the second moonstone and that Alpha Trenton is bringing it to us. Also, some chick called Patricia has been spying on us and plans to set the pack house on fire in order to stall our plans." Vivian informs us and we all go pale. That nasty lowlife bitch! I look at Zayden, questioning his choice of lovers. He avoids my gaze and clenches his jaw in anger.

"Jarred, go with some guards and find Patricia and have her thrown in the pack dungeons. And this time, make sure she can't escape. Also ask Liu to place more guards in and around the pack house and to keep their eyes out for any suspicious activity." Zayden orders his Beta. Jarred nods and leaves after kissing Vivian's cheeks and whispering, "I'll be back soon."

"What are we going to do about Alpha Trenton? He might have already left his pack by now." Marrise asks.

"I think I can help with that." The Lycan king speaks up. Honestly, I had forgotten he was in the same room as him. And he wants to help now?

"My king, we would be grateful for your help." My stupid mate responds. I frown at him. Where did all that unnecessary politeness come from? And why didn't he use that same tone with me? I was a Princess after all.

"I can issue a Royal command on him, forbidding him from entering the pack until further notice. That way he would return to his pack and stay safe. I can also command him to keep the stone safe until we get back to him." Grandpa dearest informs Zayden. I try to stay emotionless but I was secretly wowed and the kind of powers he possessed. Too bad he had the personality of loose gravel. The kind that hurt to walk on.

"That would be of much help, your highness." Zayden bows down. The king nods at him and leaves the room in order to send the Royal command.

"That would be of much help, your highness." I mock behind his back. Zayden stills and then turns around with a dirty smirk.
