Ok see you then! 💕
Charles Lee continued to glance from the door to the text message as he waited in front of Samuel Seabury's dorm.
Is... Is that a heart?
Oh he's just too cute.
(Wait what—)
Lee shook the thought from his head and knocked once more at the door.
"Yo, Sam! We've gotta go!" He called, hearing shuffling from the other side. The doorknob turned and he sighed in relief. "Fina—"
"Well who do we have here?"
Lee blinked and looked up at the other man (who, definitely, was not Sam). He wore an extravagant choice of fashion... Charles wasn't even sure what half of it was, but it sure did look classy.
"Oh uh.. Hey. I'm here to pick up Samuel?" Lee said slowly. "Uh.. We've got a movie to catch and.. Uh.. We've gotta meet some people.. Pretty soon.. So we uh.. Should get—"
"You're taking him to a movie?" the man raised a brow and mumbled something that Lee could've sworn was "damn. Guess I was too slow..", yet he wasn't sure.
"Ah.. Yes..?"
There was a pause in which the man looked Lee up and down. "...ohh Samuel has a date!"
Yeah he doe— wait what?
"A.. A date? Uh.. No I don't-"
"Well Mr. Soon-to-be-Seabury," the man teased, sticking out his hand. "I am the—" (the?) "George Fredericks the third!"
Lee eyed the hand awkwardly before shaking it.
"...Charles... Lee... The.. First?"
George let out a laugh, yet Charles could swear that it was bitter and forced.
"Oh what a sense of humor! Little Sam will love that!"
"Uh... George.. I don't think we—"
"And so modest about his own great characteristics? Why, I never stood a chance.."
Lee blinked as George's mood suddenly changed to a more bitter type. "W.. What?"
"You heard me," George muttered, pausing as he crossed his arms. "So, what're you really doing tonight, huh?"
"I uh.. I'm taking Sam to the movi–"
"Lies! Do you think I don't know who you are, Lee?"
Charles gulped and shrugged, earning a scoff from George.
"You're the terror of the school." he paused and stepped towards Lee, who stood confidently despite his inner fear of the taller man. "I'm only letting you take Sam out because you for some reason seem to make him some kind of happy."
Something inside Charles twisted.
He wasn't sure if that was bad, exactly.
"But listen here, Charles Lee—" George's British accent came out a bit more in a (surprisingly) intimidating way. "—if you hurt my Seabury in any way I will not hesitate to shove you out a window, at the least. Understand..?"
Lee had backed up a bit and blinked.
"I.. Uh... O-Okay..." He stuttered out, trying to keep a confident outlook as George smiled bitterly.
"Good."
"Is.. Is uh.. Is Sam ready..?"
"Oh.. Right," George turned around and waved a hand. "Samuel, dear! Some Charles Lee is here to take you to a movie~!"
A few seconds later, Samuel came skipping out in an oversized sweatshirt (hey, that.. That looks familiar..) over his usual sweater vest.
Lee bit his lip.
"Oh boy this'll be fun!" Sam said excitedly, linking arms with Lee (without protest?) as he walked out.
Charles rolled his eyes but couldn't help the smile that came across his face.
"Yeah yeah let's just go."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So.. What are we watching again?" Samuel asked, smiling as he thanked the cashier, grabbing the bucket of popcorn.
"It's called 'Lights Out'," Lee replied, taking his wallet out. "How much is it?"
"6.50— oh! Oh do not worry, Charlie, I can handle it!"
Lee scoffed. "Yeah. Like I'll let you do that."
Sam waved his hand, dismissively. "Now stop it, you. I am perfectly capable of paying for myself."
What kind of guy let's you pay for yourself when he takes you to the movies???
"Heh. If you think I ain't gonna eat at least half that bucket to myself, you've got another thing coming Sammy. I'm paying, and that's final."
Sam opened his mouth to protest but Lee shook his head and handed the money to the cashier before the redhead could say anything more.
Charles smirked a bit as Sam linked arms with him and started walking to find their seats.
"Ahem," he hummed. "You're welcome, Sammy~"
Samuel rolled his eyes and laughed a bit, his smile from before returning.
"Thank you, Charlie," the redhead paused and stopped in front of a door. "Theatre 7, right?"
Charles nodded and Sam pulled his arm back, holding the door open for Lee with a goofy smile.
"Ladies first!" he joked, earning a roll of Lee's eyes as he chuckled and stepped inside. Sam followed after him as he walked down the little hall to the seats.
"Do you see Reynolds anywhere?" Charles whispered to Sam as the redhead looked around. A few moments later, he pointed up to where James Reynolds and some girl sat, a little too close, if you asked Sam. Lee grabbed Samuel's arm and walked to sit in the row behind Reynolds just as the last preview ended.
He sighed in relief.
Everything was actual long working out!
(....more or less....)
About halfway into the movie, a jumpscare occurred and Lee flinched as Sam squeaked and jumped in the chair. He looked over to the redhead as he shivered lightly and pulled the hood of his sweater up to cover his face.
"Hey.." Charles whispered, leaning closer to Sam. "You okay..?"
Samuel looked back at him with wide eyes and shook his head quickly.
"H-Horror mo-movies aren't my t-thing.." Seabury stuttered out, jumping again as a loud noise came from the movie and tugging his hood down. He squeezed his eyes shut.
Charles bit his lip. He hated to see his friend so scared... It just wasn't the normal, happy, perky redhead he had gotten used to.
With a sigh and a swift movement, Lee reached over and picked Sam up (thank god he's so light), setting the other down in his lap.
"C-Charlie..?!" Sam squeaked, looking up at Lee, who simply turned his attention back to the movie and prayed Seabury couldn't see the slight blush across his face.
"I can't have you jumpin around every five seconds. Hopefully this'll shut you up.." Charles muttered, trying to act annoyed. Sam blinked and nodded, biting his lip lightly as he curled up in Lee's lap.
A scream from the screen.
"Dear god-!" Sam whimpered, jumping again and startling Lee as well.
"Sammy.. Sammy, you've got to calm down.." Charles hissed, looking down at the shaking redhead.
"I... I'm sorry.. I'm sorry but I.. I can't... I just.. This isn't my kind of t-thing.. I can't... I can't..."
Lee hated seeing his Samuel shaking and whimpering. It just.. Wasn't him.
With a sigh, the taller of the two wrapped his arms around Sam, smiling a little as the other seemed to relax.
"Ch... Charlie..?"
Charles lightly shushed him.
"Don't worry, Sammy. I've got you.."
