Chapter Seventeen - Batman

"Master Bruce?"

"I'm down here Alfred" Bruce was staring at the file on the table in front of him

"Still puzzling you?"

Bruce grunted in reply. Bruce was reading the file he had found on The Joker, a file belonging to Dr Harleen Quinzel.

Harleen Quinzel, currently interning at Arkham Asylum, studying at Gotham University.

"Miss Quinzel has a bright future in psychology, she fully asserts herself in everything she does, she was the only one of my students to get an internship at Arkham Asylum, she has been there for 2 months now she currently sits in on sessions with a Dr. Jonathan Crane, which seems to be going well. I think she is beginning to see a different side of psychology, but I believe she will achieve her goal of become a criminal psychologist"

" I have conduced ten sessions with Miss Quinzel during her internship at Arkham Asylum, she has coped very well for a woman of her age. My time overseeing Miss Quinzel at Arkham Asylum is now over, i will no longer be conducting therapy sessions, I feel in my professional opinion that she is more the ready to became a Criminal Psychologist, and I will be giving Arkham Asylum my full recommendation to put her on as a full time staff member."

"Why would The Joker need this?" Bruce thought aloud

"Perhaps he was trying to get some insight into his Doctor" Alfred answer as he cleaned up the table

"Maybe, it seems strange to me, she seemed odd when she came to see him"

"Hmm, maybe you and Master Grayson should do a little detective work?" But just as Alfred was finishing his sentence, Bruce disappeared to the Bat-Cave.


Bruce called Dick down to the Bat-Cave to investigate the young doctor

"So this is the file you found the day he almost blew up the school?" Dick asked and received a grunt in reply, "Its not so strange Bruce, his always found ways to stay ahead of the game"

"I know, it seems different this time"

"Ever think you worry to much?"

Bruce ignored his steads comment and continued to read something on the Bat-Computer, "Make yourself useful and read me her medical records"

"Uhh, there's just one here for a psychical she had before she started working for them"

"Hand it here" Bruce grumbled

Harleen Quinzel is in top psychical condition, most likely due to her years of doing Competitive Gymnastics.

Harleen has several injures that have not healed properly over the years, the top few are
- A torn rotator cuff, a common injury among gymnasts. Unfortunately she did not received proper treatment and continued to work on the injury, which hindered the healing process.

- She has 3 ribs on her right side that have been broken (severely) and have not seen proper medical attention.

- Several areas of expanded scar tissue, she was unable to explain to me what they were from.

- The most serious amount of scar tissue is located just underneath her collar bone. She was unwilling to let me see it for too long, but from what I did see it seems to be a scar from a laceration about 3 inches, possibly from about 10 years ago.'

Bruce began furiously typing at the Bat-Computer

"What is it Bruce?" Dick walked over to see what Bruce was typing "Monica Hadst? The nurse that Joker.."

"Yes, her" Bruce handed Dick Harleens file "Read this" Dick read through it

"Yeah? It don't see the issue or what it has to do with the nurse"

"Now read this" Bruce gestured to the screen

' Monica Hadst suffered multiple injures

Her shoulder was dislocated and broken, several broken ribs and a large lacerations just below her collar bone'

Dick shot Bruce a worried look

"Dick I'm afraid, this may be more than Joker just wanting to stay ahead of the game"
