So you've made it this far; you've downloaded the app and you're ready to start writing.
But wait... Do you have a solid idea? Do you have a unique selling point that will draw people to your story? Is your idea cliché? (Not that there's anything wrong with clichés)
If you don't have a solid idea then the chances of people wanting to read your book are slim, especially if the plot keeps changing while you try and figure out what to do. What I learnt from the first book I ever wrote on Wattpad was that you NEED TO PLAN.
Planning is vital as it means you can never get writers block and you will be able to update regularly (I will get onto the importance of this later on). What you also have to do is check to see if your idea has already been done and if it has you HAVE to be careful with the way you write your story! If you have exactly the same plot as another book you can be accused of plagiarism!
What you might also want to do is look around your genre a bit, check out the scene. See what's hot, and what kind of things people are reading- this doesn't mean change your idea to fit in with what's popular. No what this does is help you understand your market, help you see how easy it will be to get known. What it also does is help you see if your idea is original and hasn't been done before.
Hope this was kinda helpful
