Time seems to slow as I fall through the air, Rin's cries are lost as my head hits the ground.
Astaroth walks towards me and smiles coldly.
"Goodnight, little exorcist." His claws are aimed at my heart, I close my eyes. I don't want to see this, I don't want to watch the end of my own life.
A shadow blocks out the light and I open my eyes, Rin is standing before me, his arms outstretched.
"Don't even think about it." He growls. The demon slashes at him and knocks his aside. My eyelids grow heavy and I begin to close them. Rin lets out a cry and unsheathes his sword. Blue light erupts in a burst of flames around his body. I gasp, letting out the last breath I have in me.
I close my eyes.
