Chapter 14: Taking Maddie Off

Mackenzie's POV

"It's not hopeless!" I seemed to randomly be in the hospital and I was at Maddie's room where everyone was gathering around to see Maddie Ziegler's last few seconds on Earth.

"Sorry Ziegler child she's already dead." A tall surgeon chuckled. He chuckled! HE CHUCKLED! Not only did he call me Ziegler child, he chuckled! I just got so raged that I jumped at him. I ripped off his mask to see my own father, who was suppose to be dead, was now killing his daughter. He was pretending to be a surgeon so he could kill Maddie. I guess murder runs in the family. We were now on the floor fighting with our bare hands until he took a surgeon tool and struck it through my heart.

"Ahh!" I screamed louder than I ever done in my life jumping out of my shared bed.

"What happened?" Kendall, right next to me on the left asked in a tired way.

"Is Maddie alive? My heart was pounding from that nightmare, so my voice was breathy and muffled.

"Uhh I rather not upset you," she whispered too tired to speak up.

"What are you talking about!" I almost screamed. I just wanted to know if Maddie was okay. I was so loud I might of woken Paige and Brooke from all the way across the hall in their tiny room.

"Kenzie please go to sleep we'll discuss this in the morning!" She spoke this time firmly.

"She's my sister I deserve to know all the information anybody knows about her!" My voice rose.

"Maybe you don't want to hear that she's dead!" She yelled. At that moment Kendall knew she was wrong by the way the tears swelled in my eyes. I tried to contain them at first, but they just flooded out and I didn't even care.

"Kenzie I didn't mean for you to hear it this way," I ran out of bed and then tip toed into the Hyland's room. Kendall chased after me causing a commotion. Paige woke up starting to get in her cranky side.

"Kendall what the heck!" She yelled but then forgot that Brooke was there too just next to her. Brooke is such a deep sleeper. One time she almost slept through our monthly fire drill. Every month we practice our fire route in case there's an emergency. Good thing it was just a drill or that wouldn't be so good.

Then, Paige saw my silhouette and immediately softened her tone.

"Kenzie are you okay it's 3am," she whined.

"Kendall just told me Maddie pppasted." I stuttered trying to hold in all the tears.

"Ohh that explains all the rowdiness. Come here Kenz I'm so sorry." She pulled me into a gigantic mom- like hug, at least like my old mom before she was a killer anyway. "You can sleep with us if you like, but Brooke..." She paused to glance at Brooke snoring in her deep slumber.

"I don't mind," I said and plopped myself next to her while I sobbed in near silence.

"Ahhh!!!" I screamed. I just woken up from the craziest dream. So first my father killed Maddie, then in my dream I woke up and Kendall told me Maddie was dead. It was weird though because just like in the dream Kendall tiredly spoke, "What happened?"

"Just a bad dream. Maddie's fine right?"

"For now, but Kenzie I don't want to talk about this now okay?"

"Why not?" My voice rises just like in the dream.

"...bbbecause, I don't want to upset you," Déjà vu much?

"Is Maddie alive! Answer me!" I screamed, then remembering Brooke and Paige were in the other room. I stared at the clock and gasped. Just like how Paige had mentioned it was exactly 3am. "I think I need a second," I said. I've read about this before. They're called precognition dreams; they are dreams that show the future. Think of it like Raven's visions from "That's so Raven," but in dream form.

"Kenzie it was just a bad dream. Go back to sleep. Maddie's fine...for now," Kendall said. Kenzie didn't fall asleep for the rest of the night, because in the morning it would be the last time she saw her beloved sister.
