The Lodger(s) [Part 5 - FINAL]

House, Front hall...

"...There is no upstairs!"

The Doctor, Craig and Lexi looked down the stars before The Doctor used the sonic screwdriver so they could enter the flat.

Inside upstairs flat/spaceship...

Beyond the normal looking front door was a very advanced spaceship. At its center was a control panel.

"What?!" Craig and Lexi gasped.

They all slowly walked in.

"What?" The Doctor asked. "Oh. Oh, of course! The time engine isn't IN the flat, the time engine IS the flat! Someone's attempt to build a TARDIS."

"No, there's always been an upstairs." Craig tried to reason.

"Has there? Think about it!"

"Yes. No. I don't..."

"Listen." Lexi said to Craig. "I've traveled with The Doctor for a while now, and I've learned a few things. One of them being perception filters."

"Very good, Lexi. Proud of you. She's right, Craig. They're more than just a disguise. They trick your memory."

A scream rung out. They all turned to see Sophie being pulled towards the controls.

"Sophie!" Craig shouted.

The trio ran over to her.

"Sophie! Oh my God, Sophie!"

Craig and Lexi grabbed onto her hand to keep it from touching the glowing panel.

"Craig! Lexi! It's controlling her. It's willing her to touch the activator."

"It's not gonna have her!" Craig insisted.

The Doctor use the sonic screwdriver on the panel. Sophie touched it and screamed.

"Ah! Deadlock seal!"

"You've got to do something!"

The device let her go and Craig eased her to the ground.

"What?! Why'd it let her go?" The Doctor asked to himself.

The Doctor looked around and saw a dried up skeleton. Lexi put a hand over her mouth in shock.

As The Doctor and Lexi crossed the center of the room, a hologram of an old man appeared. "You will help me."

"Right! Crashed ship, let's see. Hello, I'm Captain Troy Handsome of International Rescue and this is my First Mate, Lieutenant Uhura." Lexi glared at him for that name. "Please state the nature of your emergency."

"The ship has crashed. The crew are dead. A pilot is required."

The Doctor used the sonic screwdriver and the hologram changed to that of a little girl, a younger man, then back to the old man.

"You will help me, you will help me, you will help me."

"Not again! Stupid time loop..." Lexi said to herself.

"Craig, where am I?" Sophie asked.

"Hush! Human brains aren't strong enough, they just burn. You're stupid, aren't you? You just keep trying."

"17 people have been tried. 6,000,400,026 remain."

Sophie stood up. "Seriously, what is going on?"

"Oh, for goodness' sake. The top floor of Craig's building is in reality an alien space ship,"

Inside the TARDIS...

"...intent on slaughtering the population of this planet."
