Hermione's POV
We all scurried off the train, to see the beautiful castle of Hogwarts looking just like it had when I first came here the night sky blue with dot sized torches of light shining down us. I sighed as I had the group Slytherins trailing behind me. I turned to them "I have to go over to Hagrid now. Bye"
"Bye" they said in unison
With that I walked over to Hagrid who was calling "Firs' years, Firs' years over 'ere"
'it's so weird I'm like so tall compared to all the tiny first years' I thought.
I decided to try and make conversation with my giant friend who towered over me.
"Hi Hagrid" " Hello don't mean' to' be rude but who are ya?" Hagrid said out of confusion "It's me Hermione" I finished excited with bright yellow hair "Why're ya' here?"
"I'm here cos I'm getting resorted my name now is Hermione Gaunt"
"Alrigh'" Hagrid finished looking unconvinced.
We boarded the little boats with there lanterns lot to help us see our way across the Black lake I just hope I don't get pulled under by the giant squid
and then we sailed off towards Hogwarts I had to ride with a short, stubby blonde headed boy. As I saw Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry I instantly felt at home but also had terrible flashbacks of the destroyed scenes of Hogwarts, all I want is to finally have a normal year well as close as I can get but knowing me something odd is bound to happen. Finally our journey was over it felt it had been years when in reality it was ten minutes.
We all filed out and followed Hagrid, he knocked three times on the magnificent doors that lead you inside the Great Hall much to my surprise Professor Slughorn came out and explained the rules and other things. We were lead down the middle of the four tables of the Houses I could actually feel the stares burning holes in the back of my head this made me feel uneasy and nervous making my hair turn a acid green color I tried to make it be normal but I couldn't help it and my cheeks were flushing in embarrassment.
We all made a semi circle around the stool with the sorting hat resting on top then he burst into song
"Welcome young, welcome old,I am the Sorting Hat
I don't protect your head from cold,
I'm more important than that
No other hat to me can compare
No cap, nor bonnet, nor cover
To me your thoughts are laid bare
I ascend above all others
So inside your head I can view
To sort you accordingly
As you start your Hogwarts year anew,
Your house is up to me
Maybe you go in Gryffindor
Where bravery is found
If you're valiant, daring, or audacious,
Then you are Gryffindor bound.
Perhaps you belong in Hufflepuff,
With their faithfulness and devotion,
And their untiring forbearance thrives
Hufflepuff would be my notion.
Or maybe sagacious Ravenclaw,
With their scholarly brains
They possess the will to acquire all
Ravenclaw individuals have knowledge to attain.
And finally crafty Slytherin,
Where you have to watch your back
They search for ways to obtain their goals
But many friends you won't lack
So go ahead, try me on
The famous Sorting Hat,
Lend me your thoughts for a little while,
To set your mind on track.
Everyone applauded the sorting hat and Professor Slughorn spoke "When I call your name you'll come sit and sorting hat will be placed on your head and you'll be sorted into your houses"
The first to be called up was a girl with raven black hair and pale skin
"Christina Richards"
"RAVENCLAW" the hat called out. Then there was the boy I shared a boat with his name was
"Peter Robinson"
"HUFFLEPUFF"
After about 10 more kids
"Hermione Gaunt" Professor Slughorn called
I walked up, sat on the stool and he placed it on my head...A/N: The song is not mine all credit goes to This Person Is Gone Now
