Once you've removed your targets and made your way back to your class, Mera’s voice comes over the speaker once more. “Now, will all one hundred of you please watch the screens.”
“It's just the field...” Midoriya says.
“What's happening...?” Uraraka asks, and you shrug at her as you drink a bottle of water. Suddenly, explosions strike all over the stadium, destroying everything.
“What the–?! Why'd they do that?!” You gape with your classmates.
“Round two’s the last one. You examinees will venture into the ruins, and prove your worth when it comes to rescuing innocent victims. You'll be entering the scene as bystanders and undertake a rescue operation.”
“Pie stampers...??” Mineta asks.
“Huh? What are you talking about??” You ask. “Do you mean bystanders? You don't remember what that means??”
“It means people who happen to be on the scene. We did this in class, remember?” Toru tells Mineta.
Momo nods. “The term is also used to refer to ordinary civilians.”
“You will not act as regular civilians or students, but as those who have hypothetically earned their Provisional Hero Licenses. You're being tested on how well you respond in rescue operations.”
“Hm...?” Shoji notices something on the screen, and you follow his gaze. “Look, there's some people...”
“Huh?! Old people and kids?! What are they doing out there? That's dangerous!!” Sato says.
“I'm sure they know what they're doing, the Hero Commission wouldn't make real kids work, let alone do anything so dangerous.” You say.
“Everyone you see entering the field is a highly trained Professional Rescuee and in very high demand as of late. Please welcome the good people of Help Us Company, or HUC for short.”
“I didn't even know that was a job.” You say to Shoji. “Sounds kind of like being an actor and stunt double in one.”
“They're not doing any stunts though.” Kirishima points out.
“Yeah, but it's dangerous like being a stunt double.”
“The members of the HUC will be feigning injuries all across the field. It is your task to rescue them. Act as though this is a real rescue. You will be scored on how well you perform these rescues. Those who attain the required points at the end of the test will pass. We'll be starting in ten minutes, so make sure you've taken advantage of the refreshments, because you won't have another chance to.” Mera says over the announcements.
Kirishima makes his way over to one of the food tables, and you follow after him. The two of you grab some snacks and drinks then walk back to the group. “So, how'd it go for you two?” You ask him and Bakugou. “I heard bits and pieces from Kaminari. What did he mean when he said you two got all mashed up into balls??”
“Oh it was totally gross. One of the guys from Shiketsu, that purple haired guy, has this weird flesh finger quirk. Anything he touched with these gross giant floating fingers got all mashed up.” Kirishima groans. “He got me, then Bakugou. Kaminari saved our butts.”
“Hah, it was all thanks to my grenade.” Bakugou scoffs. “But he wasn't totally an idiot today...”
“Aww, Bakugou, that's so sweet! I'm glad you guys are getting along!”
“It is not!!”
“Oh, Shiketsu’s coming this way.” Kirishima says through a bite of food. The hairy guy from Shiketsu is walking towards the three of you, and a few of his classmates join him.
“Excuse me, Bakugou?”
“Yeah?”
“Shishikura... The shifty eyed one... He came after you, right?”
“Is that the guy with the purple hair?” You ask. The hairy guy nods.
“Yeah, I crushed him.” Bakugou stares at him, wondering why he's asking.
“Ah, I thought so. He was probably terribly rude to you. You must have been offended. He has a bad habit of trying to force his own values on others. He couldn't contain himself after seeing someone as notorious as you. We'd really like to build a good relationship with UA going forward. Please accept our apology on his behalf. Now, if you'll excuse us...”
Before they can walk away, Todoroki steps forward, and speaks up. “Hey, buzz cut. Did I do something to offend you?”
“Huh?” You look at the tall first year student from Shiketsu that he's talking to. A sinister look crosses his face.
“Oh...? Nahhh... You'll have to forgive me, but... It's cuz you're Endeavor's son. I hate both of you.” Even you feel uncomfortable, especially with the intense look of hatred that Inasa is giving Todoroki. “You've changed a lot since then, but those eyes... Still look just like your father's.”
“Well, he is his son...!” You step towards the two. “It'd be weird if he didn't look like his parents...!”
Inasa gives you a long look, but the hairy guy from before calls him to hurry up. “Coming!” He spins and walks off, as if the conversation never happened.
“What a weird guy...” You say. “You okay, Shoto?” He nods, but doesn't say anything. The girl from Shiketsu gives Midoriya a cheeky wave.
“See ya later!”
“Ah... Sure...?” Midoriya responds, and Kaminari and Mineta jump him.
“‘Ah, sure?!’ Oh no you don't!!” Kaminari says.
“You pervy horndog!!”
“Like I said, you guys have it totally wrong!! She's actually crazy scary!”
“Enough!! This is unbecoming, boys! What do you think you're discussing in public?! When our test is about to begin??” Momo scolds them.
You laugh and sit with Bakugou and Kirishima as you eat and drink. “Uh oh, they're in trouble.”
“So... What's the deal with you and that guy from Ketsubutsu?” Kirishima asks you.
In your surprise, you squeeze your water bottle too tight, and water sprays your face. Coughing and trying to wipe away the water, you reply. “N-Nothing! He's just a flirt...!”
“I don't like him.” Bakugou grunts.
“You don't like anyone.” You tease.
“He's different.”
“He was actually really nice to me. Just... Really flirty...!” You sigh in embarrassment. “He was going to take a giant rock to the back to prevent it from landing on me, and then when I hurt my hand stopping it, he made sure to avoid hurting me more while we were fighting. Then when I was putting away my targets, he was asking about how my hand was and made sure I was okay.”
“Huh?? He was talking to you again?” Kirishima and Bakugou frown.
“Yeah... He's the one who gave me the key to remove my targets.” You admit.
Bakugou goes to say something, but an emergency alarm blares through the speakers. “Terrorists have launched a massive attack!! There's wide-scale destruction throughout the city! Buildings are collapsing and people are hurt!!”
