A magician... really?
This is who they sent to accompany you throughout this mission?
A flimsy looking, aged, and decaying yet living corpse of a magician?
The new Kahn will surely have to be able to explain this to you in great detail using the most constructive terms ever identified by man. The troubled thoughts occurred to you.
Could he fight and is he one to be easily broken?
What you did not know, however, was that this 'magician' is a skilled fighter.
He was fused with thousands of souls of fallen warriors, including the two souls of both Shao Kahn himself and King Jerrod of Edenia. If you had known that, maybe you would not have continued to mistreat the male as much as you did.
"We think that you should rely more on our help."
You looked to Ermac, uninterestedly blinking at him every now and then.
Was he serious? If he took a brutal hit from an enemy, he would be a broken and withered old man crumpled on the floor. Did he really want you to rely on his feeble help?
Who knows? Maybe he could cry, or maybe he would scream for someone, like you, to come to his aid and help him.
Sighing exasperatedly, you chose to ignore your biased thoughts. The emperor sent him with you for a reason. Perhaps he was not as frail as you assumed of him to be. It would only take time on this mission to tell if he is truly capable of defending himself.
Without paying attention to see who or what you were bumping into, you fell flat on your derriere on the dirty ground of the wet Kua'tan Jungle. Irritated, you looked up only to go abruptly pale in your face. There, in front of you was a one hell of a gargantuan anaconda, maybe prehistoric as well.
Now, not being a native to Outworld, you were too startled at seeing such a large, malicious creature. Staring at the anaconda, you saw the sights of its' venomous fangs sticking out and heard the lowly hiss that it directed at you as its mouth grew larger and opened wider. Your mind told you that screaming would be the most terrible idea in this perilous situation. However, you could not help the rising fear growing at the bottom of your stomach to the erratic beat of your heart. To say that you were internally panicking would have deemed to be a mere understatement.
"H-h-hey Er-Ermac ... I c-could use a bit of help right a-about now ...!"
Just shortly after your calling plead for help from your partner, the creature lunged in to attack your trembling body. Not daring to open your eyes, you believed yourself to be dead. You felt no pain, nothing whatsoever. Perchance the venom from its bite held a strong numbing agent that worked instantaneously and you were blessed with a quick and painless death, but to suffer inside of the creature, now that was a horror in itself.
"We wish to know if you are okay."
That was odd. If you did not know any better, you would say that you were alive and were hearing Ermac's raspy, resounding voice. You slowly opened your eyes to see yourself sitting on the same place that you fell on your soft behind, and you did take notice of no wounds on your body. It seemed almost as if you were in pristine condition, minus the muddy outfit, but that you could make do with. You looked up almost gingerly and very hesitantly. You did not want to meet the menacing eyes of the snake before your doom, but to your relief; there he stood, your saviour from the beast.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine now, thanks to you."
He only gazed at you and your sheepish expression as you extended your hand out for him to assist you back onto your fit. Instead, he had taken it upon himself to bring your body up face to face with him using his levitation abilities. The shocked expression on your face was enough to cause the withering man to smirk and just stare off into your eyes.
To you, this was the crafty work of one hell of a magician and his magic trick.
Somewhere off to the distance behind you laid the mutilated and shredded body of the monstrous anaconda. Pieces of it were scattered across the dirty ground and the blood caused the scene to look like a bloody crime scene. What you could not see would not scar you, thanks to the lovely 'magic' of Ermac's powers.
