A loud crash in the pit signalled monsters of every kind that there were new visitors.

A large cloud of smoke rose to the blood red sky of  Tartarus.

Percy and Reyna crawled out of the crater that they made while hundreds of monsters closed in on their position.

Reyna was in top shape, but Percy was left with some minor injuries that wouldn't affect any of his powers, but would slow him down if only slightly.

"We have to hurry or they are going to kill us both," Percy said while trying to catch his breath.

"Can't you flash us somewhere else?"

He sighed. "No I can't. My godly powers are limited down here."

"Which ones?"

He was quiet for a minute before he paled. "Well shit. That is definitely going to restrict me."

"What is?"

"I can't use any godly powers other than the ones I have been given from the big three. That means no flashing and no mind messaging."

"Well that's very comforting, but how are you going to fight enemies that are almost invincible here? It's not like they are going to drop dead for you," Reyna said, clearly nervous.

"I wish. That's not all either."

"What else could you possibly not be able to do?"

"Well you see, uh, the funny thing is, is that I can no longer use my powers on a godly level either. My powers have been reduced to demigod level, which with the powers of the big three, still makes me as powerful as a major god or lower Olympian like Apollo or Hephaestus, maybe even Ares."

"So what your saying is that you are about as powerful as an Olympian god when your weak. Wow. Your version of weakened is definitely different then mine."

Before he could answer Reyna's question a loud roar sounded behind them.

Instantly they both took off in the opposite direction, away from what Percy believed to be a drakon.

As they ran deeper into the heart of the pit, monsters chased after them, hungry for the flesh of a demigod.

"I thought that monsters feared immortals down here so why are they after us if your an immortal?"

He just kept running, but Reyna caught the look on his face. "Perseus Jackson you had better tell me now or so help me I will kill you before you get to the arena."

He nodded slowly, unsure of how he was going to explain this for her.

"They are after us because your a demigod not because I'm an immortal. Your the only reason they are after us and before you try and lead them away it's pointless. Once we get to the arena they will leave us alone."

Reyna was going to stop and run in the other direction, but the way he said that it would be pointless made her change her mind.

"Well how much longer until we are there?"

"I have no idea. Let's just keep going before we get eaten."

They ran for another ten or fifteen minutes before they came upon a river. When they got closer to it, they saw that the water was pitch black like someone had put black food coloring in the water.

"Why is the water black?"

Percy looked over at Reyna who was wearing a frown on her face. He was about to reply when the figure of a woman rose out of the inky black water.

"Why I am Lady Styx my dear."

Reyna's eyes were as wide as dinner plates. Percy on the other hand couldn't keep himself from laughing as he fell over and started rolling around on the ground.

Reyna glared at him before kicking him in the side.

Styx chuckled at the two. "If you are done beating your boyfriend up, then I would like to tell you my proposition that might save his life."

This shut Percy up as he got off the ground and looked at her curiously.

"What proposition? Percy do you know what she was talking about?"

Percy looked at Reyna before continuing with thinking over what the river nymph said.

He looked at Styx for a minute before his eyes widened in shock. "Can I complete my task without it?"

Styx looked at the boy remorsfully. "I am sorry, but no you can not. Without it you will fail in your task."

Reyna decided that it was her turn to speak up. "Hold up. What are you two talking about and why does he have to have whatever it is to be successful in the Arena?"

Percy looked at his girlfriend with a slight smirk.

"Do you know the legend of Achilles?"

She nodded, but she still had a confused look on her face. "Okay, so what does that have to do with anything?"

"What did he have that made him so famous?"

Reyna thought about it for a few minutes before she paled. "Oh no. You are not doing that Perseus!"

He grinned. "Too late Reyna," he said, giving her a quick kiss before turning around and doing a cannonball into the river Styx.

Styx looked at the daughter of Bellona with a small smile on her face. "He will be fine child. I know of his adventures and everything else that has happened to him in his life. He will survive this. Just give it a bit of time."

The praetor of the twelth legion looked at the river nymph, worry clearly evident in her eyes.
