"Hey, Soph. Soph? Mom and Dad should be here soon," Blake said rubbing my thigh. I opened my eyes and saw that I was on the couch and I guess I was asleep. My legs were draped over Blake's lap as he was preoccupied with something on his iPad.
"We gave Camryn her gift right?"
"Yes, we gave her the gift," Blake said laughing.
"Ok," I said rubbing my eyes a little. Blake was watching something on ESPN and I was still feeling a bit groggy.
"I think I'm gonna go take a shower before your parents get here," I said getting up and going upstairs.
"Ok, you gonna be ok? Maybe you should just go to bed," Blake suggested.
"No, I'll be ok. I wanna see your parents," I said halfway up the stairs.
After I took a shower. I put my hair into a bun on top of my hair and threw on some yoga pants and one of Blake's tshirts. I plugged in my phone near my side of the bed and headed downstairs where I heard laughter coming from the kitchen.
"There she is!" Gail said coming toward me with open arms.
"Hi," I said softly as I wrapped my arms around her.
"You doing alright sweetie? Blake said you weren't feeling too well the other day."
"Oh, yes I'm fine now. I think it was like a stomach bug," I said looking at Blake from the corner of my eye.
"Oh, good. I'm glad you're alright now," Gail said rubbing my shoulder as Tommy step forward and gave me a light hug.
"How are ya Soph?"
"I'm good Tommy, how are you?"
"Just wonderful. Glad to be here. Blake was telling me we're gonna make that Dodgers game happen?"
"Absolutely! My dad said it's supposed to be great weather too. So it should be a good time."
"That sounds awesome. Can't wait to meet your dad. Jay right?"
"Mhmm, Jay," I said to Tommy. "Where are Taylor and Marieka?"
"They already left, I think Marieka had to do some last minute stuff for Taylor's birthday," Blake said.
"Oh, ok. Well, I'm whipped so I'm gonna go to bed but, I will have a big breakfast for everyone tomorrow. And Tommy, Gail, let me know if you need anything," I said giving them both a hug.
"Thank you honey," Gail said. "Are you still not feeling well?"
"Just tired and a little overwhelmed." God if only she knew what was going on in the the inside. Literally.
Blake gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and told me that he'd be up later before I went upstairs.
I got under the cool cotton sheets and comforter and sank into the mattress and sighed. It had been a long day. A very long one. I heard Blake tell his parents good night as he came up the stairs and down toward the bedroom. He opened the door quietly and peered over to see if I was asleep.
"Still awake," I said as I rolled over onto my side facing him at the door.
"Good, I was hoping you were," he said climbing into bed after throwing his shirt into the hamper.
"For what?"
"To do this," he said grabbing my face with his two hands gently and pulling me in for a hungry kiss. It had been a long time since that happened again. He continued to push his tongue past my two lips as it hit my teeth and I found his hands tangled in the back of my hair. He finally slowed down his pace and removed his lips off mine, still holding my face.
"Oh," I said. It was all I could say.
"Oh yes. Goodnight Sophie," he said smirking and turning out the lamp on his nightstand and sinking back into the bed, one of his hands around my waist and the other resting on my belly.
Thursday morning
"Soph, you almost ready?" Blake called from downstairs.
"Yeah, I just need to put on my shoes," I said going into Blake's closet and pulling out a pair of camel Tory Burch sandals and sliding them on. I took a look at myself one more time and adjusted my jacket and put one last bobby pin in my hair. I went downstairs to find Blake eating a donut by the front door.
"We have donuts?" I asked him.
"Mom left them this morning before going off with Taylor and Marieka," Blake said holding it out so I could take a bite.
"Mmmm, I could eat six more of those," I said sighing.
"We have a ten left. Do you want one?" Blake asked.
"No, no. We're already running late and I don't want to get any frosting or sprinkles on my clothes," I said putting my sunglasses on and going out to the car.
"You look nice baby," Blake said opening the car door for me.
"Thank you," I said smiling at him. "You, look good too."
"Me?" Blake asked backing out of the garage.
"Yes, you always look good," I said admiring the basketball short and tshirt ensemble Blake was wearing, while I went with a cobalt blue chiffon maxi dress and denim jacket.
"Well, you look hot. You're gonna be a hot mom," Blake said coming to a red light.
"Oh, please. You know just wait until I start gaining all that weight and I'm just gonna be wearing yoga pants and tshirts all the time," I said scrunching my nose at him.
"I don't mind yoga pants on that ass," Blake said smirking.
"Oh, my god. You know thank goodness your parents are never around when you say this stuff," I said shaking my head.
"Ahah, I'm not completely stupid, at least usually I'm not," Blake said turning into where the office was. "You nervous?" He asked.
"Little bit," I admitted.
"Everything is going to be fine," Blake said parking the car.
I got out of the car and Blake met me in front of the car. As we began walking toward the door Blake quickly grabbed a hold of my hand. The weight of his nestled in mine just felt natural. It felt like it belonged there; I knew it belonged there. We were greeted by a middle aged woman who smiled as we walked in.
"Good morning," she said to us and I took off my sunglasses and Blake still held onto my hand.
"Morning," I said as I picked up the pen and signed in on the clipboard.
"Please have a seat, Dr. Marks will see you shortly," she said entering in some information on the computer. Before we could even sit down I heard, "Ms. Jackson," being called by a nurse. Both Blake and I walked toward the door in the back still hand and hand as the head led us to a small room.
"Dr. Marks will be right with you," she said closing the door quietly. As we sat there waiting I felt my palms begin to get clammy.
"Hey, it's ok," Blake said rubbing my thigh slowly as we heard a light knock at the door.
