We wanted to create a platform that celebrated the works of all genres of Black Literature on Wattpad. We noticed that there weren't any awards that focused on celebrating the various stories in our community and we wanted to create something to change that. These awards and this page, in general, are meant to be positive. No negativity, bullying, or any form of hate or abuse will be allowed or expressed on this page!!!

As people, we view the world differently. The best way to get to know others is to spend time with them in person. However, reading is also a great way to see the world from a perspective other than what you know. When you read books that are culturally different from what you are accustomed to, you will see the differences in the way other people speak, think, interact, and behave. The best part about reading about others is that you will also get to see our similarities! We are all human and experience the same emotions. We have desires, we experience fear, we get angry, and we fall in love. 

Many authors who write Black stories have expressed their frustration with promoting their books, especially new writers. Black stories are often overlooked making it harder for readers to find them.

With the O.V.O.S. Awards, we hope to form a community and a way to promote the best Black Literature found on Wattpad. If you are interested please read on for details about the selection of judges, nominations and voting.
