FAQ

When did you start writing?

I wrote a bit when I was 12, then a 20 page story at 14.  It was supernatural/romance.  I was writing pretty regularly by age 15.

What form does your writing take?

Poems and what I call "moods" - a feeling or a single scene, such as playing skip rock at a beach and being playful.  This is the longest story I've written and I put it off way too long!

What are your aspirations as a writer?

I only write for myself.  I have no dreams of being published or anything like that.  I just want to capture the ideas I have.  This longer short-story is a challenge to expand my skills.

What has been your experience in writing a longer story?

Glad you asked. lol.  It was overwhelming at first, but it really helped to have a writing buddy to bug me and comment on my work.  The hardest part was starting.  In this case, I had the plot pretty much laid out early, that made each chapter easier to write.

Do you have any advice for beginning writers?

Just go for it.  Sites like this one can really help with motivation.  Some people thrive on getting follows and comments, but be prepared to accept constructive criticism.  Don't ever feel like it won't be good enough - everyone can get better, and it's the imagination and ideas that are more important than grammar details.  Also, comment on other's stories and join groups to get more reads.

Not an avid reader, believe it or not.  Some books/authors I've liked: Siddhartha, Terry Brooks, Sherlock Holmes, Augusta Groner, Jonathon Livingston Seagull
