I've got a question.

Do you guys think BTS should be considered kpop? I've seen some sparks of these that many ARMY are trying to push: BTS shouldn't be considered a kpop group.

Out of curiosity, I'd like to hear your guys' opinions. Please no hate comments or cussing, try discussing in a mature and respectful manner.

@slysuga that's quite an interesting perspective to read. I know the biggest reason as to why many ARMYs are pushing this is because of the stigma that the kpop industry holds. Many outsiders who are clueless about kpop may hear some negative things about it, henceforth, they want BTS to be recognized as more than a kpop group as well. Not only that, but they'd probably get more recognition (the time when BTS were nominated in a separate kpop category when they could've competed against the other famous contestants)

In my opinion, I think they are a k-pop group. I might be a bit biased, but if you think about it, k-pop literally stands for KOREAN-pop. They sing in korean. Maybe some ARMY’s think they shouldn’t be considered k-pop because their songs are somewhat becoming more “western”.(BUT MOTS7 PROVED YALL WRONG) I’ve heard some people say that k-pop, is similar to pop music, and I agree. There is literally the word “pop” in k-pop. I’m not saying that k-pop is a knock-off version of pop, cause it’s not. I love BTS, and they have expanded their music to many other styles and genres, and there is nothing wrong about it.
