cowboy carter DESERVED album 
          of the year idc idc. idc if you didn’t 
          listen any of the songs on the album 
          or you had to “look it up”. i don’t
          care that it didn’t do as well as other
          the other albums nominated. 
          
          i don’t care that she already has as 
          many grammys as she does, this aint 
          a class participation grade. it’s 
          substance and impact enough hold
          its weight. tossing that album to the
          side and trashing on it bcuz it won
          over yours faves, FEELS very very weird
          due to it truly being a BLACK ALBUM.
          an album about the black american 
          experience. but yall are tired of those.
          yall can’t handle anything unapologetically
          black.

@vampirjies EXACTLY. it feels like the never ending story of how black artists and creatives feel that they constantly have to prove to a world that undermines them. for example, these same racists will bring up white artists like the beatles in order to undermine beyoncé’s historic achievements. the fact that she, a black woman, has been in this industry for over three decades and has yet to ever fade from obscurity is what truly makes them livid. i also think that this shows how much non-black audiences will dismiss and demean black stories and experiences, especially those that expressed through music. at least until these stories and appropriated and commodified for their OWN comfort. so they don’t have to confront their own implicit biases.

@outroses  THAT PART. ….when literally like TWO YEARS AGO ppl were complaining that the grammys WERE streams over quality. YALL PLS. it’s just racism. not a single album that was nominated even came close to being as impactful as cc, im not even a beyonce stan but im sick of everybody acting like she’s overrated bcuz YALL DONT GET IT. not everything IS FOR YALL. 
            
            blk artists have to go out of their way to perform and give phenomenal performances to even be taken seriously. her christmas show ALONE was enough to solidify that that album deserved album of the year. she utilized an ENTIRE FOOTBALL FIELD WITH A MARCHING BAND AND DANCERS. like ??? NO ONE IS DOING IT LIKE SHE IS. yall don’t CARE to do it like Beyoncé. yall complain about ppl not being performers…but then shit on Beyoncé for BEING the performer and being able to move through the genres. yet she’s still being treated like she’s just a nobody when she’s a celebrity among celebrities. “she already has 33 grammys when the Beatles only have like 12” yall DONT even like the beatles. the ppl who are saying that cant even name more than two songs by the beatles…they were active for ten years….beyonce has been active since 1990 like ?? DUH SHES GONNA HAVE MORE AWARDS THAN THEM.
