The best advice I've ever received about writing is simply this... when I pick up a book, I want to be whisked away. I want to visit strange cities and times that are not mine. I want to see magic, castles and planets with two suns. I want to befriend the most unusual, the strange and unique. That's what a book does; it helps you escape your reality, and if that's the book you want to read, then that's the book you should write.
