So, I rarely Insta (And I've never Snapped or TikTok'd in my life, and if I remember to Tweet once a week, it's time to throw a party...like, seriously, break out the champagne and streamers 'cause it's a big day.)

But regardless, I'm running a little campaign on Instagram right now to help folks who haven't yet checked out The Otherworlders get to know the characters better. Now, I kind of had to rush the execution--for various reasons--and there are things I'd do differently. But, all in all, it's turning out to be a really fun endeavor!

I even met a writer from Oregon who gave me great advice on wineries in her area, let me know about a Fantasy/Sci-Fi convention happening in my town that I'd never heard of, and she even read some of Episode 1 of The OW and said it should be a TV show!

This all may seem elementary to you, but to someone who's still working to establish a comfortable relationship with social media (given that you won't EVER see me doing video, I still have a love/hate relationship with Facebook, and I always forget to take pictures of my food at restaurants before I eat it), I wasn't expecting all that much from this experiment.

But I think there may be a way for me to use social media in a way that's organic to who I am and that I'm comfortable with that still helps to get me and my work out there. I don't know...we'll see.

ANYWAY...you should follow me on Instagram because I think I'll be spending more time there and I'd love to follow you back!

@Zoe_Blessing - My relationship with social media is definitely still a WIP. :-) But with Instagram, that's where so many of my young readers are. And, it's actually cool in that when they follow me and I follow them back, I get to know them better. I can cheer on their milestones and successes and learn a bit more about their tastes and interests. It's nice. I was just really struggling with what to post, if I wasn't going to post every day, so that I could stay active. That's what I feel I'm getting a better handle on these days.

@paulapdx Glad you found a strategy that works for you! Instagram isn't really my thing because I personally don't care much about photos. But I can see those character portraits as drawing interest from readers, great job!

Well, the Wattys craziness has begun! ACK!

Actually, to be fair, it's really rationalizing and standardizing itself as a process, given that it's becoming more of a year-long event and is focused on finishing a work, as well as trying to win a prize.

There's a bit more structure there for you to map out milestones and really plan and work towards a Wattys win goal. But there's also room to celebrate just finishing a story. That's a HUGE accomplishment and should be celebrated, even above and beyond a win. A completed work opens up so many more opportunities for you, both on Wattpad and off.

And this year there are resources and education available as well. Check out this new Wattys resource book. And there are podcasts! I LOVE PODCASTS!!!

Alas, no Longlist or Shortlist this year. That was a real bummer.

Anyway, check out this new Wattys resource and get cracking on that masterpiece!

@paulapdx I'll try, but it'll probably it two me a month to get to 4.7k words due to my tons of classes and extracurriculars. Thanks, you're super amazing ❤️❤️❤️

@Scarlet_Night_Sky - You can do it! Start with 10k and see how the story develops. After my experience with "The Descendants", I'm now a huge proponent of getting the story down, in any shape, and then seeing if and where you can expand it later. Even though I don't have time to expand the story at the moment, I love it so much, and I love the characters. And readers loved them too! So, that also gives me an incentive.

And, over time, I've given a lot of thought to how I can expand it, and at the very least, I now have a blueprint for a larger story.

Give it a go and I'll be here to cheer you on! ❤️

"A Night to Remember" is live in the "Lucky in Love" anthology! What happens when I step into the brain of a hormonal, 17-year-old boy in love? #Adorable

P.S. - This is the first time I've written a story in a 1st person POV, much less from the male perspective, and it was SO MUCH FUN! The story was supposed to be all sweet and innocent and tropey, but in that POV, it took a decidedly different turn. ヅ

But it's still #Adorable in my opinion.

Anyway, it's interesting what changing up the perspective on a moment can do to a story. Check it out when you get the chance!

Oh, my gosh, guys! I'm so excited! There's so much going on right now.

❶ Okay, yay! A new chapter of The Otherworlders-Season 2 is coming your way. It should be ready either late tonight or tomorrow. And I'll just say this: drama, drama, drama!

❷ Thank you guys for all of your Open Novella Contest links! I'll be making my reading list just as soon as I post my chapter, and then I'll dive into your stories as soon as I can. Seriously, the amount of creativity and camaraderie this contest engenders is just amazing!

❸ There's a new anthology of free stories out NOW on the Paid Stories profile. The first two stories have been published and there will be a couple of new stories published every day, through Valentine's Day.

My story, "A Night to Remember", is a rather...um...unconventional, yet tropey, love story, and one that I don't think y'all would expect to see from me, but...IT WAS A BLAST to write! I'm probably the only one who thinks it's funny and adorable, and it was written in a completely new perspective for me (a very fun challenge) and it made me smile, so...

          ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I do hope you enjoy it. Remember, it's coming out this Sunday.

Well, all righty, folks!

I've moved the 2019 Open Novella Contest (ONC) entries I didn't get a chance to read to my library which means it's time for a new list!

I won't be participating this year but want to check out your entries and do some shoutouts when I can.

So, hit me up with a link to your entry so I can add it to my list!
