I'm a grateful daughter of the gentle, coastal land below the Mason Dixon Line. We have many names for the grand, and proudly peculiar, people of the Tidewater: Islanders, Swampers, Line Folk, Maroons, Down Easters, Lowlanders - are just a few.
They are my past, my friends, my kin. They are folks born of the blood that has nurtured this rich dirt for three hundred years... and nurtures it still.
The exultant holler of the morn'n rooster, the sleepy lullaby that is the night'ngale's gift to the twilight, and the low, deep snore of an ol' houndog , are still my favorite music.
My poems, songs, and prose are stories that grew out of the long, low slope of earth that slides underneath the sea, and the people who call it home.
I sincerely hope that you find as much pleasure in the read'n... as I've felt in the write'n.
Your comments will always be more important that those stars.
