I started writing short stories in ninth grade and never stopped, although there were some long pauses on the way. I'm a graduate of the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers workshop, which I would recommend to any aspiring SF and fantasy writer.
The Catmage Chronicles is a six-book YA fantasy series about a secret society of Catmages--cats with human intelligence and magical powers--that work together with human teenagers to defeat the evil that rises in their time.
Book one, Darkness Rising, is going on Wattpad for free a couple of chapters at a time. Check back every weekend for more chapters. Keep an eye out in the future for short stories set in the Catmage universe.
Book three of The Catmage Chronicles, Darkness Triumphant, was published in December 2015. Book four will be out in 2016.
