@jandralee Hi! I'm not feeling myself lately. I feel tired of everything all the time and I just don't know what to do. ☹ nothing makes me happy.

I was going through my favs to rr and "followed" came up so hearts hearts jandra. And turns out skin tight was off my shelf before I could read that, all in good time tho. Hope you're taking care of yourself 。◕‿◕。 you write deep stuff, that's gotta suck the living daylights outta the writer, when you think that we're dead just reading it. *shoot, I ranted about my love you your books accidentally*

sripriya7876

Hey I just completed followed and wanted you to know that it was amazin!!!
BTW I also wanted to read skin deep but I can't find it in. Have u removed it from wattpad???

jandralee

@sripriya7876 Hey!! Skin Deep is currently off Wattpad for rewrites, but I'm hoping that won't last forever. I am accepting beta readers if you're interested in getting access to the Google Doc!

There's no strings or anything — I'm just asking beta readers to answer a few questions at the end of the book about things they liked, didn't like, etc.

What do you do when you don't have the motivation to finish writing your story?

jandralee

@jjungkooksthighs Ugh, I totally get this, but remember that motivation is a muscle NOT a light switch. Most people think motivation is something you either have or don't have, but it's actually — like I said — a muscle. If your motivation muscle is feeling a little "weak" right now, that's fine. The best way to strengthen it is simply through practice.

Think about Olympic athletes. They didn't show up at the gym one day and voila, they're the best athlete in the world. They started small. They started when they were young, when they were bad at the sports, when they were weak — and they got stronger and better over time with a LOT of practice.

If you want to get the motivation to finish writing your story, start by setting mini goals. Don't think about FINISHING the story, think about writing a certain number of words — like 500 words or a single chapter — and give yourself a reward for accomplishing that goal! Our brains love rewards, and science shows us that when we reward ourselves for doing something, our brains are more likely to want to do that thing (write 500 words) again so we can get another reward!

Resist the urge to focus on the end goal, and focus on just DOING THE WORK. Showing up, practicing, writing consistently, and doing it because you enjoy it. The end will come, but right now you just have to take baby steps.

            I believe in you! :)

How do you write a successful story? Or at least start? I’ve been reading a lot of articles and I’m wondering which part is worth it! Any tips?

jandralee

@Star_Dust_Souls Hey! As far as how to write a successful story, I don't have any tips about the writing part — it does just take practice. I know that's not always what you want to hear, but it's the truth! Look at Olympians — they didn't decide, "You know what? Today I'm going to get a gold medal in swimming." They spent years improving their craft! The same thing applies to writing books. I made up my own mantra/quote about it that helps me a lot:

If you want to be good at something, you have to be willing to be bad at it first.

BUT — as far as getting more reads on Wattpad? I actually have a YouTube video on the subject!

There's a lot of uncertainty in the world today, and IT'S OKAY if you need a break. It's okay if you're overwhelmed (and it's also okay if you're feeling fine). There's no "right" or "wrong" way to act during this time — just make sure that you're doing what's necessary to take care of yourself.

If you're scared, if you're stressed, if you're anxious, if you're tired, if you're struggling to focus — you are not alone.

I'm not always as present on Wattpad as I'd like to be, but if you need help, love, encouragement, or support — I'm always here for you. My Instagram DMs are always open. <3
