          In other news, I've just seen that Nocturne was one of the winners of Round 2 in the Open Novella Contest! Very surprised to see it, but also very happy! It does bring me onto my next couple of points; first, that there'll be a new update for Nocturne tomorrow :) It'll be a sort-of double, since there's a vignette-type scene which doesn't count as a full chapter, so I will also post chapter five.
          
          Second, since this month has been hectic in my personal life, and I'm still dealing with some things, I will be postponing next week's Angelfire update to the week after so that I can complete Nocturne in time for the end of April. It's still going to be a bit of a scramble, since I did lose writing time in a big chunk of this month for reasons outside of my control, but I'm quite keen to give myself a chance at meeting the deadline ':) So there will at least be Nocturne updates scattered about for the next 10 days.

Hello there :) Just a quick one this evening, and I apologise for the short notice on this, but I've decided to postpone this week's update to next week. I've had some misgivings about the structure of the chapter so I was planning to do some major edits, but this week kinda came in swinging and I just haven't had the time or energy to do so. Rather than put out a chapter I'm unsure about, I'm going to pause and give myself a chance to recover and look through it with a clearer mind. I don't like doing this so soon after reestablishing weekly updates, but life does what it does sometimes ':)

          I hope you enjoy it! In related news, I'm going to be trialling going back to weekly updates! I do have a bit of a buffer, so I'm going to see how it goes for a couple of weeks. It may have to go back down to every other week if it looks like I'm going to have trouble keeping up again, but we'll see. Hello there! Just a quick announcement to explain the sudden appearance of a new book XD I hadn't confirmed I was going to enter the Open Novella Contest ahead of time because I genuinely wasn't sure if I'd be able to meet the deadline to qualify, so surpise, I guess haha. It's a bit of an experimental one and it is in the same universe as Chameleon, which I'm hoping to expand on with other projects in the future. I always write fantasy but I do like to bounce around subgenres a fair bit - this one is urban fantasy, so that's something to bear in mind if you've read my Whispering Wall series. I'm just doing it for a bit of fun since I haven't really written anything other than Whispering Wall since Chameleon, so thank you so much if you do check it out, and don't worry, this isn't taking up writing time for Angelfire - I do actually now have that laptop so I can find spare pockets of time that I wouldn't otherwise be able to use :)

          I really enjoyed writing this one! I hope you enjoy it :) 
          
          I'm making decent progress on the chapter buffer. I've saved up a bit and now have plans to get myself a laptop (I currently only work on a desktop) to maximise my writing time, especially on days where sitting at the desk is difficult but I've still got the writing itch :) Also quite excited to work in coffee shops again; I used to do it a lot in my school days so I could be fuelled directly by caffeine...and also not have to see my growing pile of incomplete homework out the corner of my eye while I wrote about demon hunters and stranded mermen instead XD 
          
          It is also that time of year for the Open Novella Contest! I do have an idea for one this year, in the same universe as my previous entry (Chameleon) and several series I would love to write in future, and I hope to get to it as I'm pretty stoked and have an outline down. Angelfire is my priority at the moment, though, while I'm closing in on wrapping it up (we've got a while yet, but I have a lot to tie together and make happen before we get there!) so I'm playing it by ear. Seems crazy to think that I was just wrapping up Nightfire when I last entered in 2020, it seems so long ago and at the same time like two of those four years disappeared into a vacuum ':)
