In the spirit of my offline novel I’m writing, here’s a James Bond short story I wrote a while back. Let me know what you think if you have a chance to give it a read:)

Writer update: my offline spy novel reached 8k words! It’s so fun seeing the word count increase:) Anyone else get writer joy from piling up words? Even if they need heavy editing later;)

@ericdabbs, I've found that just getting *hours* writing gives me joy. The words come with that. (-:

Just a little shoutout to myself: I have a new offline story I’m working on. Spy thriller in what I like to think of as a James Bond classic like novel with spies and villains and plots that might read like Ian Fleming conceived it. Five chapters written. 6k words. Yay. Way to go me:)!

@Glory_feeling2 Awesome! Sounds great. I love Indiana Jones:)

@ericdabbs Congrats! After my novel Moonbreak, I'm thinking of redoing my 2024 Smackdown challenge that lost on round 1. Within the Murky Waters is what I'd call and it would be something like an Indiana Jones novel. Haven't seen an archeological fictional story in Wattpad yet, so I'll be one of the first!

I wrote 500 words this morning on a new writing project! Had crafted the story ideas into a short premise paragraph and then a synopsis over the past week. I can still write:) I think it’s been more than half a year since I last wrote something. Feels good. Think I may keep at it:)

ericdabbs

@Glory_feeling2 I feel like it made sense. But I know where you’re coming from. I’ve written thousands of words and then realized they were scribble:)

@ericdabbs Hi! That's quite an accomplishment! 500 words ... well hopefully it makes sense. For me, sometimes what I wrote down is all scribbles. LOL!

I haven’t written or done any writing related tasks in almost a year. Nothing at all this year for sure, until yesterday. Just reached that point where I didn’t think I was going to write anymore. But yesterday I broke out one of my old stories and started editing it. May try to rewrite it and see what I can do with it:) wish me luck:)

@ericdabbs Congratulations! Hmm... the end of the word? Sounds intriguing ... heard of that prompt being used before, but every author has a different take on it. Good Luck!

I’m going with Prompt #98. I have 200 words so far. For some reason the cat with the missing ear got my attention. Don’t have a cover yet. I’m just winging it for fun to see what kind of wild ride I can come up with…

Prompt #98 You never imagined the end of the world would begin with a one-eared black cat showing up at your door.

I’m considering a late run at the 2026 Open Novella Contest. Just need 2k words by next Saturday’s deadline for the first round. Hmmm… what can I come up with?

ericdabbs

@CharlieCat22 I’m toiling over the prompts right now:)
