Diversely Lit

 #DiverselyLit is a community run by a group of writers and promoters. Our purpose is to create a safe space for writers of minority and marginalized groups. We support and promote stories which are written by underrepresented voices and/or include the aforementioned characters and related themes. Our focus is on positive representation that fights common and harmful stereotypes in order to expand the diversity in independent literature. 

Diversifying storytelling and content creating is much more than adding staple characters to check off a quota, and having seen these types of representation in popular media far too many times, we wish to focus on writers for whom different cultures, orientations, identities, and languages aren't just a quota, but an essential part of an empathetic system that offers the same opportunities to every individual. 

The lists we have provided on this profile are a good directory of diverse stories that span across BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and stories written in different languages. The lists are constantly being updated with new and exciting books, so we recommend keeping an eye out for any new ones which might just tickle your fancy. 

In addition to that, we are currently running a series of interviews with up and coming writers who tell us about their experiences as writers belonging to minority groups and their quest on writing their authentic truth. These interviews can be found on our profile. Please let us know what you think about them.
