I’ve decided to end Crystal Queer where it is, at chapter 23. It’s now marked as complete. I think that’s where it needs to end. Continuing it wouldn’t be necessary. Maybe I’ll publish a bonus chapter/one shot someday. I don’t know.

I’ve been in a bit of a writing funk lately. Which sucked, because I almost gave up on my WIP. Earlier today, I finally realized why: I was taking it too seriously.

This is basically a reminder to have fun with writing, especially on your first draft. Don’t take yourself too seriously.

hii! Excuse me for plugging, but could you spare me some time? My friend just published her first work here in Wattpad and she's seeking people with good tastes to give her honest critiques in her story. It would be such a pleasure to take a peek of her work and help her out. She would really appreciate it and would be pleased to learn from your opinions. But, if you don't have some free time then I would still be glad that you noticed this message and would respect your decision. Thank you. I'll drop the link here ^^.

Apparently the word count limit for the Wattys Shorts is 20,000 words. I guess I won’t be submitting Ellie’s Adventure :(

I’m not sure if i’m going to continue editing or not. The entire reason I decided to edit was for this contest. Should I keep editing or no?

The_pappagallo

@bluespringlife keep editing I think It will still be fun

Question for fantasy writers: How much world building is too much? Is it possible for a world to be too complex?

greyrevenge

@bluespringlife personally, my world has many kingdoms and nations and countries that I've actually drawn maps on--i think it's a good idea for you, the author, to have an idea on the worldbuilding details of your wip. but i would slip these details in from time to time, not do an entire paragraph explaining the layout of the world, while at the same time keeping track behind the scenes on a piece of paper or document for consistency :)

@bluespringlife I think a world shouldn't be too complex, so as to make it easier for the readers to remember and also still understand

It’s really hard to romanticize your schoolwork when you’re staring at a computer screen the whole time. I very much dislike online school.

If you’re a student, how are your classes going?

If you’re entering the Wattys this year, I wish you luck!

@BrookeNotAshley thank you for sharing! i didn’t know about the other contest before.

I’m still PLANNING to enter but I’ve got other projects I’m working on so we’ll see if my story gets entered!

Also, check the Wattys account! They’re going to be hosting a similar contest to the Wattys for smaller works (i.e. short stories, poems, etc)! They won’t post details until Oct. 1st but your novella might fit in the eligibility requirements!

no, not this year. they added a new requirement that your submission has to be complete and over 50k words. my only completed work is a novella

Y'all...I just realized I joined Wattpad exactly three years ago. And I must say, it's been a wonderful three years. I've met so many amazing readers and writers on this site and read so many awesome stories. I can't wait for the years to come.

          thanks for listening.
