god i fucking love mitski so much as an asian american the experiences and guilt of simply existing and pissing people of because who i was born as has never been expressed in such an exact way. people who are non-asain will never quite experience the same type of racism/trauma/discrimination mitski describes in her songs. having to be unliked just because of my asian-ness and being outcasted just from the shape of my eyes to the food i eat.. from the generational trauma of parents not being able to support you to not understanding how american customs work. not to mention how she describes trauma and guilt in general, such as wondering if you ask too much when asking for the simplest thing, if your s/o is slowly losing interest over you, and being lied to over and over again which is so deeply rooted in our history. her music says so much about feeling unwanted until you find someone who doesnt make you feel that way, yet they even might not like you. her music speaks about being hypersexual just to appeal to people you like. her music just explains the feeling about being unliked or unwanted even if its just who you are. her interpretive dancing on stage adds to the saddness and adds to the feeling of just being used sexually or not. she tells stories in so many ways that are in her lyrics and it sounds so good. mitski is god
