After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world. ~ Phillip Pullman
For me, fantasy literature is the best way to make sense of this world. Rather than an escape from reality, it is a mirror and magnifying lens held up to it. If we could cull the wisdom from hundreds of other worlds, I am certain we could improve our own. So keep reading and keep writing! Wisdom and empathy, wonder and joy, pleasant pain and dangerous hope -- all are certain to follow.
Hi! My name is Katie, and I write so that my stories may offer others a sense of "nourishment, shelter and companionship." To that end, let me know what in my stories pulls you in and what pushes you out. I want to improve so that readers may take from my books the selfsame sense of a safe space for clean pain and agonizing questions and complicated joy that books have always provided for me.
Readers are as much a part of a book as the author, and your insight is beyond valuable in making my books the best they can be. So leave a comment or a vote, shoot me a message, and let me know what you think!
My favorite color is purple.
I majored in European Studies and Psychology, or, as I view it, worldbuilding and character development.
Despite the aforementioned major, I want to decolonize fantasy literature and offer more alternatives to the classic European Middle Ages and white protagonist archetypes.
I have two cats and a brother.
My favorite authors are Terry Pratchett, Robin Hobb, and Italo Calvino.
