Someone recently left a comment on The Last Tour complaining about "Rachel." I got an email notification about it, and was immediately like - "Who the heck is RACHEL? I don't remember a Rachel??"

Some days went by - me still off and on wondering who in the world Rachel was - until finally I had to just go back and read the dang thing to find out. Wow, it turns out there is a LOT in that story that I forgot about. It really tickles me that a few people still read these old works. I had some pretty good concepts sometimes - but my writing was overall nothing like it is now. I still write the angst and the drama (and the mental illness, let's be honest lol) but I've come a long way in my style and plotting.

Ahhh just taking a moment to appreciate my journey (and the people who appreciated it with me) ❤️

Ooo! And you can find me and my *modern* work on Inkitt (and Tapas!) I would actually be super, super thrilled if you found me there and let me know you're from my old Wattpad account ('cuz I think you would be the first!)

uthenasia

is there any stories similar to tell my father that you would know of ?

MerleBlackBird

@uthenasia "The Sound It Would Make" is good and depressing. It's about a youngish guy trying to escape an abusive relationship and a slew of addictions. That would be my best recommendation, probably. High depresso and very expresso.

There's also "On 18 Wheels." Almost-thirty-yr-old guy trying to hide from the mess in his life by escaping over the road in his eighteen-wheeler.

"Heartless Doesn't Break" is pretty good if I remember the title right.

Let me know if you find something you like! I'm not actually sure if any of these are still available, but you can always take a peak. Also, I'm always happy to recommend yours truly heh heh. I write on Tapas now, and I might have lost my filter over the years.

I had one more chapter of Eclipse My Heart before it got deleted! I forgive you since you like my profile picture lol. I can’t wait to read the new version though, I wish you good luck in writing it.

MerleBlackBird

@bubbling_bibliophile Oh yikes! I could temporarily republish it if you'd like to finish it. The new versions of those two books are going to be drastically different and probably a long time in coming...

Hey everyone! I'm back from my long break. :) While I was on break, I was keeping up with school and writing a few little things here and there, but also trying to decide where I want the Saffie-Jade series to go. Well, I haven't entirely decided, to be honest. I did get to the bottom of why I don't like Heaven Is Where You Are, the reason involving both the unrealistic plot line brought into it from Thymyhn Gold and Caged to the Ground (both currently unpublished because I don't like them either) and how freakin' lonnnnnggg the book goes on (unedited draft is 305 pages so far and I haven't added a single word in four months.) I had the kind of a scary idea last night of completely cutting Thymyhn Gold and Caged to the Ground OUT of the series, then majorly adapting Eclipse My Heart and Heaven is Where You Are to fit the edit, and if I'm being honest, that would mean throwing out most of both books and putting an entirely different story in place. As much as I could say I would almost certainly like the series better without Thymyhn Gold and Caged to the Ground, I don't um... Know about you guys... Especially after reading oh some four HUNDRED pages of story that the author one day ripped out and said, "By the way, that never happened." Soooo um... I have mixed feelings, am open to feedback, and will ultimately be twiddling my thumbs over a completely different book (Lighthouse Gone Out, the rewrite) until I can make up my mind.

I think you should definitely do what you feel is best for the story. Even if it means cutting out an entire plot line.

I'm gonna be perfectly honest and say I am seriously considering discontinuing "Heaven Is Where You Are." I haven't lost my passion for the characters or their story but it boils down to the fact that I feel very insecure about the story line of this book. I feel like I am failing to portray the emotional part of this story as vividly as I wanted to. I've actually lost most of my readers--(I am NOT trying to guilt trip anyone, if you lost interest in this story, then absolutely nothing should make you continue reading it) which kinda tells me that I really am doing as bad of a job as I feel I am. I guess there are two reasons I'm saying all this. One is to let everyone know what's going on (of course) and the other is to get some feedback. If there are people who still genuinely take interest in the book (rather than reading simply because we're friends, please don't do that, my friendship is honestly free) then I will do my best to finish the book and publish it here on Wattpad. Also, as I have not lost actual interest in the book, critique would be helpful. If I can find an actual problem, I can actually fix it. Thanks for reading this ridiculously long post...I'll shut up now. XD

Please continue it!! It’s such a nice story and we’ve become friends because of it, I love it so much and it’s seriously the only reason I even have wattpad anymore. Every chapter is so addicting, the pace is slow but in a way that makes you wanna read as much as possible. I connect with saffie heavily on a realistic level, and jade has been through so much and it puts me at ease to see that he’s finally in a safe spot. Just hope nothing else traumatic happens to him, but note, I’ve been on and off reading because I’m still in school trying to finish up , so I’ll disappear for days then come back and binge the chapters (which I love doing) . So please DONT discontinue the story. It’s too good to abandon!!

@MerleBlackBird hmmm well I haven't lost interest. It's a continuation of gay kids go to hell, right? And I'm reading that at a snail pace but I will finish it. And when I finish it, I have no doubt, none at all, that I will want to read everything after it. Why do I know this? Because I was the same with tell my father.

It's May 14th! (Jade's birthday XD) Kinda cute 'cause it's a Tuesday and that means I'm updating. I was really hoping to publish the May 14th section of the book (Heaven Is Where You Are) around now but OH WELL, I'M RUNNING LATE. Hope you guys enjoy this next chapter anyway, and many thanks to those precious readers who show their love on this book! ❤
