The most important thing when it comes to writing is a good plot. It needs to be thought out well, so it doesn’t look all over the place.
It kind of depends if you write a fan story with already existing characters or one with your own, but the characters need to be thought through as well.
If it’s a fan story, the personality should never completely change from the canon one. Every character has some visible traits, that makes them, them. Those should remain or only slightly altered.
I like to just write and don’t pay too much attention to detail at first. I usually come back to the chapter a few hours later and work on the details, since I often notice things I would write different or add/take away some things, when reading it again.
And one last thing I can recommend is, search up synonyms. Many words tend to be overused or sound plain fast, so it’s nice to change it up sometimes. A lot times it can help settle the mood you want to portray even better! But you shouldn’t just choose the words because they look fancy or seem professional. See if they fit in and if not, search for something else or rewrite the sentence!
