"Life is short. Eat the doughnut."

This is the tagline that my roommate in Atlanta always used on his social media, and a wise sentiment. After my partner passed away, he helped save me and get through life in so many ways. Last summer, our landlord (who was a terrible slumlord) sold our house out from under us and left us with 60 days to find a place to live.

I ended up packing up everything I owned and moving to California. He bought a condo nearby and began working full-time in the film industry. The fact that he was living the life he always wanted to live, on his own terms, it inspired me a great deal.

Today, I found out he passed away, an unforeseen complication due to a routine medical procedure. I am broken-hearted, and a writer who has no words.

My second week in the Write To Rank competition already has me struggling with editing out imagery I love to meet word count! *laughs* Word count is my nemesis, but hopefully this style of storytelling will help me focus on Stephen King-approved prose. (no unnecessary adverbs!) ;) Please check out my entry here:

@JadedElegance gosh, I feel called out! I had been trying so hard to evolve my style as well!

Hello RP friends! I'm not one who is fond of advertising anything on my message board, since I have friends interested in a wide variety of things on here--but this particular story requests a message board shout-out to participate.

If you've been looking for a literate group RP, check this one out! I don't usually participate in stories with teenage characters, but the plot for this one was different enough to grab my attention! :

It has been forever since I've done anything on Wattpad, but you all know I love this place, and I haven't been doing a lot of writing that is just my own (not for clients) the past two years. I'm going to give myself a little kick to do something new by joining the Write To Rank competition, hosted by the @action profile. Since my writing style and my natural strengths don't really match up with the Action genre, it'll be interesting to challenge myself to try something new--and am maybe not quite so good at doing. :P

Temporarily, entries are located in my contest book. If I continue with the project, I'll make a new book for my stories. :) https://www.wattpad.com/1351955556-amaranthine-beauty-within-darkness-write-to-rank

@fireheather Likewise! I will definitely give your entries a read, also! :)

@Lavender_Queen_ Awww! You're very sweet. I never have much time for writing, but definitely want to try to make it more of a priority! <3

WOW, the description of the Immortally Beloved just really appeals to me and seems to contain many elements I
am interested in. Mark this for now and thank you Alayna-Renee for writing such a wonderful story ~ I'll write a long review when I've finished it hahaha!

JadedElegance

@LiebeKlara Thank you so much! It's currently undergoing editing (it needs a LOT of that, but first drafts always do!), but I hope you enjoy the story! <3

Hello to everyone! I've been away for a few weeks, and I'm sorry about that! I've gone through some major life changes, including losing my home when our landlord decided to sell it out from under us and tell the property management company who bought it that it was unoccupied. The result was a few weeks of chaos getting everything packed and put into a storage pod, arranging to have it shipped across the country, and then going on a two-week road trip across the United States. There were some awesome moments mixed in with all the stress, unbearable heat (we had a terrible heatwave during the trip), hotels with sub-par air conditioning, and lunches consisting of gas station taquitos or Indian food a few miles from the Mexican border. *laughs* I'm now a resident of Southern California, and adjusting to a different time zone is still not 100% complete. I'm still around, alive, and doing pretty well, but sorry for any projects I ended up not being able to be a part of. 2022 has been a series of unplanned and somewhat spontaneous events. :/ *big hugs to all*

@JadedElegance I know what that's like. Man it really sucks. I hope that you are in a better situation now. I know this was posted quite some time ago, so I hope 2023 will be better for you.

@JadedElegance Yay. I can't believe you replied :D
            I don't know why I had a feeling you weren't around lately.
            I'm so glad you're OK ❤️
Oh! That's a big change! Good luck and have fun!!

@Ellen_Reese Awww!! I miss you guys, too! I'm okay, but I've had some problems with my housing situation. Long story short, I'm making a road trip across the country in a few days, and becoming a resident of California. <3 I promise I'll be back soon in writing shape! ;)
