This month's first Pick of the Fortnight is @LadyofthePond 's "The Quiet Sea." A highly unusual short story, it reminded me of the madness of Heathcliff in "Wuthering Heights."
@LadyofthePond wrote fifteen short entries from the main character's point of view, a girl living alone on a grim island, her vague but beautiful descriptions showing a quick descent into insanity and fear. A quick read, it is an interesting example of literary experimentation.

The first chapter begins here, one click away from a beautiful first sentence:

Starting soon: My Pick of the Fortnight.

I'd like to post shout-outs containing one review of a Wattpad recommendation, you guessed it, every fortnight. I'll be starting in September.

In particular, I'd like to support brilliant newcomers, since the beginning is the hardest time for your work to 'come to the light'. My main criteria, though, will be that the book has to be very well-written. (Hence, famous authors may pop up too ;) )

Which fantastic books do you love on Wattpad? Books you've fallen in love with. Books by writers you think deserve more reads and followers. Even your own books, if you think they're very good! Please comment them below so I can consider them!

Beware, I will be picky - but that's because I want a high standard so that readers could try the books I choose, and decide they're so good they'll also try another.

Looking forwards to hearing your picks,
          - Hadley

The first chapter of Dreamy Reality is out, hopefully thrilling, hopefully not confusing, hopefully a bit of fun. It is a fourteen-minute read with three characters, two of whom I care a lot about, one of whom will lead you through the rest of the story... It's also the only chapter written in past tense and third person - so why not give it a try?
I look forwards to meeting you there and am, of course, open to critique and recommendations. What are you writing at the moment?
For those who are waiting for me to read some of your works, I haven't forgotten you, and will still return to you.
Hoping you've all been having a better time,
          -Hadley Swiss-

@_surreality and @Ellie6880 Thank you so much! It’s definitely changed a bit (hopefully in a good way; I mainly fear confusion in the first chapter because of how it starts media res)! Your enthusiasm means so much to me - so thank you.

What kind of stuff do you like finding on Patreon? If I were to have an account, I think I’d post poems, art, tips etc there... With offers to patrons of free book reviews, graphics (with many redos if necessary since I’m a beginner).
And, most of all, I’d try writing research articles about topics like biology, psychology, the sciences... Why not merge the scientific with the creative?
I think it would be cool to found a community, where you can ask me fun questions like: “Why do we yawn?” Or “Where does the smile come from?” Things like that, and then I could research and blog the answers. What do you think? I’d be happy to do that on my wordpress site too (link in my bio!)
Maybe I could make a patreon + free-access blog posts for this. Comment below!

I’m not sure I’d have a Patreon either, but I’d definitely like to start this kind of thing on my blog at least. Let me know if you have any questions! ;)

@Hadley_Swiss Hey! Sorry, I don't have a Patreon account, but these ideas are good! I used to read questions and answers like this one in a monthly magazine when I was a kid and now, really miss them!
