            it was /unnerving/. to know peter was a real, in the flesh superhero. to know she was part of it. even just a sprinkle. it was also exciting. it made her feel close, so close to him. it was a little scary when she thought of it. which was why she didn’t, anytime he showed up at her window. “the top of the empire state?” mj guessed, only half jokingly. she could swear, even with the mask, she could almost see him smile. it mirrored onto her. she glanced down at the ground that felt so far from them, only for a moment before she was reaching out for his hand, fear of heights suddenly long forgotten.

            planned. that was what this all was. honestly, it was a little embarrassing. nobody had ever taken such persistent interest in her sketches. let alone the one person who inspired at least a big chunk of them. mj /had/ to take out the most obvious ones. she had to, unless she wanted to have a very awkward conversation. still, she held her breath each time peter passed a page, as though he might suddenly notice. “are you saying you /want/ me to draw you?” mj’s eyes narrowed, in the same joking manner, though hers was a lot more deadpan. “basically. or someone particularly inspiring. so you’ll see why flash is never there.” she chuckled. “you’ll see yourself a couple more times, i think.” or maybe various couple more times. if he was spider-man. which she could not confirm nor deny. but hey, she’s never seen them in the same place at once— that was something.

            “sort of? i mean, i used this weird concoction to brush it in the morning. and it looked shiny, so i let it down and all…” a chuckle left at her own words. so much to say a simple yes. “is it /that/ noticeable?”

            her eyes flashed back at him suspiciously. mj almost revelled in trying to catch an inconsistency. it made her forget all about nervousness. even if only for a few seconds.  “you get sick a lot,” she observed instead. funnily enough, she didn’t think she’d seen him sick. only heard. “sometimes… i imagine you live a secret life you don’t want us to know about. like hannah montana.” even though that particular example was rather far from what she imagined.

"  cool  ..  "   he   agreed   to   her   leading  ,   his   hands   stuffed   into   his   pockets  .   "  uh  ,   i   was   sick   and   then   i-  uh-   i   had   a   trip  .   yeah  ,   some   comic   book   thing  -"   he   cut   himself   off  ,  afraid   to   ramble   and   blow   the   whole   thing   wide   open  .   @BLACKDCHLIA

            it was odd and irrational to avoid a /park/ of all places, and one that she distinctly remembered growing up in. good memories. but the place gave her… something. it was a portal to an alternate dimension. too much deja vu. but mj figured she was with peter— she’d be too busy to remember anything else. god, she was wrong. it came to her like a tidal wave, that initially, she mistook it for a panic attack. but this had images, so many of them. and it had /emotion/. such strong, vivid emotion. she had lived an entire lifetime for one second to another. now hearing peter’s voice again almost moved her to tears. but this wasn’t the first time. no, this would not be the first tim he would be there to see it. “y–yeah. yeah.” her voice stammered, almost breaking out as she drew in a deep breath, the strongest one she could manage while rubbing the tears away from her eyes, forcing herself to look back at him. “i told you i’d figure it out.”

            “ i feel at peace when it all goes quiet , but i do not have the luxury of sleeping . . i’m starting to think that i have insomnia . ” he admitted , “ i don’t know if i should take that as a compliment or not , but alright . ” chandler said , chuckling softly . he nodded lightly at her comment , “ i am , i’ve been gone for a few years . . i was shipped off to boarding school . ”

            “it’s nice. hearing the world go quiet and all,” mj agreed, soon narrowing her eyes as she realised what she said. ‘hear the world go quiet’… what an idiot. “you /look/ like you like horror movies,” she commented. which she meant in the most lighthearted way possible. “you’re that— um, you’re the son of one of the officials, right?” she asked, setting her notebook on the table to dedicate him more attention. “my dad watches a lot of news, so… i don’t know, you looked kind of familiar.”

            “ why ? i don’t know . . i think the darkness is peaceful , you don’t ? ” he asked . his gaze moved back onto mj as a slight smile formed along his lips , “ i love scary movies . . ” he admitted , “ but , yeah . it is quiet here , that’s why i was drawn to this place . ” chandler inhaled deeply as he thought back to his true intentions of being in this town — i mean , he wasn’t truly / chandler / not after what hydra did to him . “ it’s nice to get away from my family and their high expectations . ”
