James Godfrey is Paul's best friend who he became friends with at the orphanage and Molly Mae is an old friend from the Orphanage even though she is a stunning African American woman, however, she helps hide Paul from the law, nurses him back to health, and helps him escape out of the town of Fairview because she told him to keep on pushing but never look back but also keep on moving on in life but to never forget all about James or her.
