Fading Stories

These poems are how I let the chaos in my mind spill onto the page. Beauty and horror twist together, guilt lingers in unexpected corners, and nothing feels purely right or wrong. I wrote them to get my creativity out of my brain. Perhaps you'll recognize pieces of your own shadows here too.

In a post-apocalyptic dark dystopian fantasy world, where on a person's 15th birthday they are gifted a Kill Card- a pass to a murder of their choice with NO repercussions. Our main character, Fade Alpine, and her twin brother, Echo, are turning 15 tomorrow, and they have a plan to get out of their abusive situation. However, that night, Echo becomes a victim of the kill card, and fade, who witnessed the murder happen... can remember everything. Now a run away, with a kill card in her bank, and her best friend and twin brother gone, fade has lots of decisions to make. However, she's not the only one who can remember... who are these strange people and why are they hiding? Is she one of them? If so, why? Where does she go from here, especially as she uncovers more and more truths- secrets meant to be hidden for reasons uknown. Join me as I write Fade's story in my first attempt at a novel, "Fading". I'm open to feedback! WARNING: this story IS DARK at times, and it addresses some really deep things including murder, mourning, anxiety, and more. It's rather graphic. UPDATES EVERY WEDNESDAY "When the fell dragon rises, eternal night shall settle upon the land, unleashing the plague of beasts upon the world..." For nearly fifteen years, the land of Ebea has been cast in an eternal night; the sun never rises, and the moon never sets. Wildlife mysteriously thrives as though nothing has changed. Trees do not die, despite the lack of sunlight. Monsters now freely roam the once peaceful lands. People have become distrustful, especially of outsiders. No one can be trusted. Elijah is a Savior-in-training, a part of the Order of Light, an organization dedicated to slaying beasts and putting and end to the eternal night. Training since he was seven, graduation day is finally coming up. Soon, he'll have a partner. Soon, he'll be able to help people. Soon, he'll be able to exact revenge. Nova is also graduating soon. Quiet and shy, she doesn't seem like much, but to the surprise of her classmates, is graduating at the top of the class. She hopes that one day she'll recover the lost memories of her childhood, and find out who she really is. Together, Nova and Eli will fight against the darkness, and discover something neither of them could've ever imagined...
