This is a poem I wrote back in 2011 as an undergraduate for my Creative Writing module. This was the first piece I wrote in the style of Carol Ann Duffy's collection, "The World's Wife."

The Reluctant Spy follows the unlikely journey of an ordinary man drawn into a mission he never sought-one that would place him at the center of events that could alter the course of the world. What began as a personal calling soon took on global dimensions, as his actions were mistaken for those of a covert operative working for a foreign government. Rumors spread that he was a spy-some said CIA, others SIS-wielding mysterious influence over international affairs. Yet, behind every coincidence and improbable turn, there seemed to be an unseen force aligning events in his favor. Whether by design or fate, his story blurs the line between chance and purpose, revealing how one person's path can quietly shape the destiny of many.
