At twenty, I was loud, reckless and completely convinced I knew myself. I didn't believe in love. I didn't wait for men. And I definitely wasn't waiting for a man in prison. Then I met Problem. Six foot. Road. Arrogant. Beautiful. The sort of man sensible women probably walked away from. I wasn't particularly sensible. What started with one look in my sister's house became late-night drives, prison letters, visits, other relationships, heartbreak, years apart and a connection neither of us ever really knew how to name. He was never quite my boyfriend. I was never quite his girl. Apparently, fifteen years later, I'm his ex. Who fucking knew? This isn't a story about getting the guy. It's about what happens when somebody is never completely yours... but somehow never completely leaves your life either.
