Krokspy
Iron Coffin is a grim, two-chapter short story set on the Eastern Front during World War II. Following the crew of a German Panther tank during the Battle of Kursk, the narrative plunges readers into the suffocating reality of life inside an armored behemoth-an "iron coffin" that promises not glory, but an early grave.
Through the eyes of Hans, the commander, and his weary crew-Otto, Paul, Ernst, and Karl-we see the slow erosion of hope as they push into a furnace of fire, smoke, and steel. The story refuses to glorify battle, instead laying bare the claustrophobia, fear, and futility that defined the Eastern Front. When the Panther is crippled and consumed by flames, the promise of invincibility shatters, leaving only loss, trauma, and silence in its wake.
Iron Coffin is not a tale of victory or heroism, but of inevitability-an anti-war meditation on the human cost hidden inside machines of war.
