When her father dies whilst fighting a greater demon in New York, Clare is taken back to the New York institute and adopted by the Lightwood. She lies about her name telling them it is Anivailer Fray, she also lies about her parents and her whole past life. Can She come to trust the Lightwoods and start a new life by letting go of the past or will her past come back to haunt her when it turns out her father isn't all it seems. Clarissa was taught from a young age that 'To love is to destroy' so when she is drawn to one of the mysterious Shadowhunter boys will she be able to love him or will her past ruin even that.
